    I think normalizing it as a “valid” viewpoint is a good thing. Most westerners have never in their life met someone who was outspokenly Communist. But they’ve been inundated their whole lives with anti-communist propaganda.

    It’s easy to hate a theoretical enemy. It becomes harder when they have acquaintances, friends, family, and people who are fighting on their behalf (as above) who are Communists.
