It’s pretty easy. Just don’t go to lemmynsfw.com. hopefully, we’ll get a way to subscribe to block all communities on another instance with a single click at some point to make this easier.

create an account on that instance

I was told I could create an account anywhere on the fediverse and it wouldn’t matter, I’d see everything. If I need to create an account every time I want to see some booba, that’s not very seamless. Can I not just subscribe and see it on this lemmy.world account?

This is all very confusing coming from the one-account-one-site “everything just works” of reddit.

lemmynsfw isn’t federated with most instances, that’s why. And really, most people had a porn alt on reddit anyway, so they’re used to it

Have you tried allowing NSFW posts in your settings? Assuming lemmynsfw.com hasn’t been defederated from your instance, then the posts will then show up.

You don’t necessarily need an account on lemmynsfw.com - you would just need an account to browse NSFW on their homepage. But you can see and interact with all their communities from your current instance.

Just search for the communities while on lemmy.world - for example [email protected] or [email protected] or whatever. You can click on those.

Just make sure you have “Show NSFW” enabled on your profile settings

Now some instances like lemmy.ml decided to block (defederate) from lemmynsfw.com so YMMV

I think you have to be signed in to see the NSFW stuff. Clicking the link above will take you to the instance site, logging you out. I think you need to search the instance url in Lemmy to go there from your instance?

I partially get the reason for hiding NSFW content behind a sign up but at the same because it’s not stated anywhere, for a newcomer it looks like the instance may just be without content.

On a completely unrelated point, how can I browse/list all the communities on a separate iinstance from the one I’ve subscribed to?

It seems it’s not federated to this instance. pasting [email protected] in the search bar doesn’t find it.

EDIT: Oh the irony, The Link above works. The search doesn’t

That must be a weird glitch everywhere right now. I can search for something but not find it, though I know it exists, but as soon as I post the link, then click the link twice (i.e. click the link, go back and click it again), the community shows up. Has happened twice for me. Is search just broken/ not working?
