Fun story, when I last got my eyes tested the lady testing me asked me if I was on medication and I told her flat out what I was on and why. I could tell she was taken aback in that she’d a) not realised I was trans and b) never seen or known anyone trans. (seeing as the part of Ireland I’m from is highly conservative and not a very nice place). It then resulted in her asking me a few questions as she was testing me, light hearted she seemed excited lol and she was nice… it helped me relax some so not every experience can be bad but I understand the apprehension of wanting to not say anything.
