All about St Martin's Island, its geopolitical importance amid Bangladesh crisis
www.indiatoday.in

St. Martin's Island, Bangladesh's only coral island, was in the spotlight after reports claimed that Sheikh Hasina, in her undelivered speech, mentioned that the US was behind her ouster from power because she did not hand over the island to it. Her son denied this, saying Hasina did not make any such remarks.

The fact that the self-proclaimed leader of the new interim government is a nobel prize winner should already tell you all you need to know.

Was this a legitimate movement that got co-opted and taken over by the US? Because that’s what it seems like.

This remembers me of the 2013 protests in Brazil that helped oust Dilma Roussef. Started as a legitimate movement and then got coopted by right wing forces. The liberal media criticized the protests in the beginning but then started supporting it.
