Recently, I’ve cut down on the amount of weed I consume. What used to be a multiple times a day habit has now turned into just hitting my roommate’s cart once every couple days. Generally speaking, I feel better now that I’m out of the habit. However, I keep waking up throughout the night because of nightmares. I even hit the cart right before I went to bed, but I still woke up at 3 this morning unable to go back to sleep because of nightmares.

I’d be less confused if I wasn’t on meds specifically to stop nightmares, they’ve been quite effective since I’ve been on them. But it’s been awful the past few nights. I’m not sure what to do about it because it’s really disrupting my sleep. Any tips?

What are you taking, if you don’t mind sharing? I’ve also kicked various self medication habits and am on some prescriptions for the same reason. I’ve had a mostly favorable reaction, but still experience occasional bouts of it not working.

Yeah, same. I’ve had to increase the dose a few times to get it dialed in right.

Some nights/weeks it’s just not gonna do it’s job. This can be random, but also predictable based on environment.

My provider added as-needed Adavan and I’ve also supplemented with low doses of Valium with some effect.

My opinion/experience, though, is that (as is common with these types of things) talk therapy, reading, and workbooks yield the best/most impacting results.

I was on minipress for a while too. It worked until it didn’t. I have pretty bad PTSD though. Also just cut my pot consumption WAYYY down, from all day every day to like a few times a week. Recently I’ve been waking up every 2 hours or less. I’ve adapted to it by going to bed extra early, which sucks but there’s some evidence that shows even if you don’t sleep, it’s still better to lay down and rest.
