The journalists and the culture at the newspaper wanted to endorse Harris, but the billionaire owner swooped in and overrode all of that. This is obvious.
I realized there’s another layer to how messed up this is though. A newspaper changed it’s journalistic practices to benefit an aerospace company (Blue Origin). Why is a newspaper connected to an aerospace company?
More and more companies are being owned by fewer and fewer people. The American dream is dead, the free market is a myth at this point.
A primary function of Capitalism is to concentrate wealth. Preferably in as few hands as possible. Regulation is required to keep that from happening, particularly to such extents that cash/speech proxy crosses the threshold beyond which private citizens are no longer bound by State controls.
We probably blew through that tipping point sometime in 2012-2016, so now the train is off the tracks.
For anyone on a VPN, here’s the original source. Can’t help on the paywall front without suggesting software, but this is an important analysis of how newsrooms work for nonjournalists to read.
I didn’t hit a paywall, but here’s the 12ft.io link
Thank you.
Major news papers owned by capitalist daddies are hedging their bets?
I wonder why they would do such a thing lol
Also, why ius there an expectation that they would endorse her anyway? Are DNC clowns finding out media belongs to owner?
DNC can’t even get basics done anymore lol
“Democracy dies in broad daylight” ? No; Fascism is born in silence.

“the” like it’s not a bi-partisan coalition…
So, you’re endorsing Trump?
Democracy (if we ever even had it) died a long time ago.
No, Democracy isn’t dead. Its wounded and limping, but its still alive enough at the moment. Otherwise why would the billionaires and other assholes be trying so hard to discourage voting? It does matter if you vote. Fashy types want people to think it doesnt matter and sit it out.
I never sit it out. I don’t believe it makes any difference, but I do it anyway. Our leaders are all “fashy types” no matter what. I’ve been voting and active since '96 and every president has been a war criminal. Every single time, I watch people pretend like one is the devil, and the other is an earnest agent of good. They’re always both the devil.
I haven’t had internet access for a bit now. What happened?
Washington Post won’t be endorsing a candidate (which was without any doubt going to be Kamala) this election because the paper’s new owner (Jeff Bezos) said not to.
They should support Cornel West instead. You know, because he criticizes America a lot, he might just be telling the truth. Kamala is not a strong candidate. Joe Biden wasn’t a strong candidate. The problem with democrats is they have a neoliberal problem, and I am not talking about the Latin American defined meaning of neoliberalism. This neoliberalism resembles an aspiring global totalitarianism in that it tells people around the world what their politics should be. The problem isn’t from other people, from other countries, but Americans seeing this developing totalitarianism, as being anything in America’s interests. They don’t agree with the neoliberal dreams of the elite. Americans don’t want to fight the Russians, the Chinese, the Iranians, the Gazans, the Africans, so, and so on. They want to focus on the home, and that is what Trump is about. Kamala is just Joe Biden 2.0 who won because a panic pandemic hit and damaged the global economy. Following this panic pandemic, the US picks a fight with Russia by threatening to turn Ukraine into a NATO base of operations. Americans don’t care about Russia, and Joe Biden, and his group of elites, don’t care about Ukraine. You see, the Republicans at least removed the mask of neoliberalism. This political battle is between nationalism and neoliberals, who are infested in the US political system. It doesn’t help that the Israel lobby is deeply wedged among others. You don’t know why Kamala has no real enthusiasm, is because she is another neoliberal who rather give billions to other countries, funding the death of many people, namely in Gaza, and Ukraine, then propagandize that this is logical and prudent foreign policy, than fixing a border problem.
Neoliberal behavior: billions abroad to support coups, bombs being dropped on hapless people, and expansion of US power, versus spending billions on natural disasters, and other problems that need urgent fixing at home. That is Kamala Harris. Americans are not interested in that. The people who truly care, are sick of the wars the US is involved in. This is why the Bush family was run out of politics. Until democrats on the ground figure that out, they are stuck in the dark about what is really going on in politics in the US, and even in Europe. Instead, they chew the bait of minority issues that are not really issues for most Americans of various backgrounds, or they create phantom threats to justify their irrational politicking. I can see why people not endorse Kamala. Plus, she disqualifies herself. The Atlantic is part of the neoliberal problem in the US politics. Don’t count on that publication to remotely be anywhere near the real issues for most Americans, it certainly isn’t expanding NATO. Democrats need to fix their neoliberal problem.
