The administration claimed that blocking arms transfers would embolden Hamas — ignoring Israel’s genocidal slaughter.

Shocking absolutely nobody, there’s a deafening silence from the blue MAGA brigade that, pre-election, kept crying about how not supporting Israel 100% would sink the Democrats’ chances of winning 100% and that Trump would do oh so much worse. Democrats have already lost the election, and now they double down on a losing policy when they literally have nothing at stake.

The only difference between a Biden and a Trump administration for Palestine is the speed at which things occur. Biden is fundamentally onboard with the same genocidal policies as Trump is willing to support.

What in God’s name are you on? How on earth is criticizing members of the democratic party in any way considered to be support of Trump?? You guys are really taking the term “partisanship” to heart. I’m entirely convinced you’d petulantly support anyone if they were a part of the Democrat establishment. The way you come out of the woodwork to spout off this kind of deranged nonsense, it almost sounds like you WANT the genocide in Gaza to worsen. Like if it didn’t, you’d be deprived of the opportunity to pompously rub someone’s nose in it.

Have you no principles? Have you no morality? Are you a doomerist or a pessimist or what? If you have nothing worthwhile to add to political dialog other than “criticizing Joe Biden for literally protecting genociders from international prosecution and also continuously arming them is exactly the same thing as supporting Donald Trump” then maybe turn off your phone and go back to plugging your ears and closing your eyes. Your liberal friends are all waiting for you.

Let’s just see what happens to all these loud voices criticizing Biden once Trump takes office. My guess is magically they’ll stay silent or somehow still blame the left for what’s happening.

Supporting Trump or not, this mindset is one of the factors that helped Trump get elected again. Protest votes are the stupidest thing anyone could have done in this election, and to anyone who did so, you absolutely helped Trump get elected.

Go ahead and delude yourself into thinking that there was any other choice in this election, but the reality is that both sides support Israel, only one side will take it to an absolute extreme.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking what is happening in Gaza, but that is just one of the issues that were on the field this election and the country blew it.

Have you no sense of how things actually work in the world? Are you living in a dream state?

Not voting for Harris this election was exactly the same thing as supporting Trump in terms of actual effects.

              Three things.

              1. Democratic party is not “the left”. They are neoliberal conservatives who support American capitalism and imperialism. There are socialist factions in the democratic party, but they are small and have no actual power in the party.

              2. No one said anything about not voting for Harris. You are having an argument with ghosts you’ve invented in your rotting skull.

              3. “It’s awful what is happening in Gaza” What is happening is the Palestinian genocide. What’s happening is ethnic cleansing. What’s happening is the mass murder of children. What’s happening is the Israeli state and the IDF colonizing Gaza and the West bank. They are committing crimes against humanity with American guns and money. It’s already at the utmost extreme. They are shooting children in the back of the head en mass. IF YOU ARE ANTI-GENOCIDE STOP PRETENDING ITS ANYTHING ELSE.

You are a conservative. You are the exact type of person that supports token progressive politics while women lose rights across the board and the DNC does nothing to stop it when they absolutely could. Same with trans rights. Same with black rights.

You are not the left. You never have been the left. If you disagree with genocide then you should be denouncing it with us, not playing interference tactics for genociders and genocide supporters. The election is over. The DNC failed. Get over it. Accept it. It’s done. Time to address the many problems that got us here.

it could have been easier to push the Democrats left if they actually won.

88% of Americans didnt approve of Israels actions in gaza and Biden supported it anyway. Why would Dems change long standing policy after the election if they won? Its a ridiculous idea thats not based on historical fact at this point. Thats without even considering AIPAC bribes having locked both the dems and repubs into supporting whatever they want, forever-- bribes paid for using american taxpayer money disguised as “aid”. Israel is the only foreign aid recipient who gets all their money up front, and a big chunk of it can be spent as they please, not earmarked for weapons or purchases in the US. They can buy hookers and blow with our aid money if they want to. Of course they will use some of that money for bribes and election interference.

Even after Israel treated Biden like shit for four years in response to unquestionable support…

Israel backed trump instead and Biden still is fighting his own party on this instead of spending his last few weeks with any power trying to mitigate Trump’s incoming damage.

At this point I honestly don’t understand how anyone can claim Biden was anything but a waste of four years that was so unproductive it let trump back into the White House.

I don’t give two shits if these ultra conservative Dems are slightly better than a republican. I know I can hold my nose, been doing it for a long time.

But not enough other people will.

And yelling at them isn’t effective.

So why don’t we stop trying to shove neoliberalism down Dem voters throats, and just run a candidate Dem voters already want to vote for over trump without needing a billion dollar campaign funded by everyone causing problems for the American people

Sometimes people add a “however I still voted for Harris” at the end of their comment to establish they’re not one of the dummies that uses your logic to stay home and not vote.

I was trying to feel out whether that was how you felt, and add an explicit negative judgement of that kind of thinking for anyone who felt that way.

I think not doing so is how you get applause from people who handed the election to Trump, kinda like how being a free speech advocate often collects nazi approval unless you explicitly denounce them.

Russia also supports the fascist apartheid regime and, if anything, the genocide emboldens everyone who’s already opposed to zionist colonialism.

There’s no upside to the people of the US or the rest of the west, only the politicians being bribed and blackmailed by AIPAC and similar de facto foreign government agencies.

TONS of downside, though, not least of which that what they’re doing is more morally repulsive and indefensible than even the atrocities that we rightfully despise the Putin regime for doing.

Reminder: Biden was an OG neoliberal that helped Republicans convert their former opposition party into the modern hail corporate Democrats, and was a prominent figure in the legislation for waging our draconian and ineffective war on drugs.

Joe Biden was never your friend, he was complicit in changing our national politics to

    Capitalist exploitation + rainbow ribbons(D)

    Or

    Capitalist exploitation + scapegoating®

I held my nose and voted for him in 2020, but that’s just harm reduction. I’ll take a serial killer over a cannibal serial killer that eats your fingers and toes before they kill you type thing.

He could be using his king powers granted by the SCOTUS to give minimum wage, the funds he promised, fully cancel student debt, keep queer protections, make abortion legal, or any of the things he said he would do but somehow was always stopped.

But he just keeps giving aid to “Literally Genocide LLC” because who cares, he’ll take that AIPAC money and run before the Trump fans start going after him.

Come back after January 20th and say that with a straight face.

Force Republicans to visibly go after working class people, abortions, and healthcare. Force them to be the bad guy if they want to die on those hills. This has been the crumbiest of crumb trails we’ve had since Bill Clinton. Shit that’s too penne ante to actually make a difference but is celebrated like it’s another New Deal.

He has Congress and The Senate so they can pass whatever legislation they want. They distribute the funds, the president doesn’t just magically make the funds appear. He can start a war, or use troops to run around and rip people from their homes, whether citizen or not, and then get away with it because he won’t be impeached. But what I’m saying is he can’t just say “it’s illegal to do this now” and that’s law. Unless the legislative branch gives up all its power. Which unfortunately would only save us about 100m a year and make us actually have a king. They will hide behind the false pretence that the government branches still exist because they can make everything pass they need for now. If that changes… Then they’ll break it

That’s why Biden should be doing positive things, not negative. Forgive all federal student loans, order Medicare to open enrollment and enroll anyone who applies, order the federal government to cover the cost of all abortions, order all government agencies, contractors and subcontractors to pay no less than the state minimum wage where the work is conducted.

None of it will actually go through. A court in Texas will stop it the next day. But force them to be on the wrong side of the issue. Stop letting them lie about what they will do. Show some goddamn spine and just maybe people will stop thinking about Democrats as Republican Lite^tm .

Of course, that’s the problem isn’t it? The Democrats aren’t willing to even try. Which shows us who they are.

He tried the student loans so that’ll just look bad.

But really how would he order the federal government to pay for things, he doesn’t hold the purse, Congress does. They would just call him off his rocker and not fit for office because he doesn’t remember how government works.

It’d be like me walking into a car dealership and saying give me one of everything! And expecting people to cheer for me when in reality they would just laugh and think I’m an idiot.

The same way Trump did. By declaring an emergency and grabbing whatever funding source he wanted. Congress appropriates money but the executive still has a lot of power in using that money.

Official acts for the president would include using the military to do something. It’s the executive branch. So yeah, he can do that. As for anything else he does that’s unconstitutional, he would have to be impeached, which both congress and the Senate would vote against now. So yea. He can get away with shit. But he can’t make legislation, he can just get Congress to write it and the Senate to sign off so the legislation goes through. Something that I don’t believe that has happened since 2009 for a 2 month span, which is when Obama forced the American Care Act through.

I understand aiding and abetting, I just don’t know if that actually makes it criminal in the actual written law.

Yes, it does both in international and US domestic law

Multiple provisions in U.S. law restrict the sale or provision of weapons to other countries, including the federal Arms Export Control Act, the Foreign Assistance Act, and the Leahy Law. The open letter draws on evidence from Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and other watchdogs to argue that continuing to provide weapons to Israel blatantly violates these laws, in addition to international treaties.

US weapons are being used for war crimes tho? The US is providing military aid unconditionally, knowing full well they are being used to violate humanitarian international law. The State providing the unconditional means for another state to commit war crimes is just as culpable as the state committing the war crimes.

I’m not looking for a legal debate or sealioning or any other drawn out conversation about this topic.

Some things that are noteworthy are that the United States is violating its own laws as pointed out by Sanders, and the ICC just put out warrants for Netenyahu and Gallant, so whether or not we debate the particulars Biden is involved in those crimes

I’ll name the war crime, and you could too if you did a google search for it.

We’re bound by the geneva conventions, that we did sign, and the articles regarding complicity in genocide wre in the signed articles. So yes, it is US law.

"According to Article 1 of the Genocide Convention, the Contracting Parties, including the United States and Israel, must prevent and punish acts of genocide. Under Article III, those punishable acts include “Complicity in genocide,” such as by knowingly providing the deadly weapons used to carry it out. In 2007, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in a case involving Bosnia and Serbia, established that the obligation to refrain from providing weapons or other assistance begins the moment a state becomes aware of the existence of a serious risk that genocide may be committed.

For the Biden administration, that moment came in January, when the ICJ found that there was a “plausible” risk of genocide being committed in Gaza against the Palestinian people by Israel."
