Needs something green on the plate (and maybe some gravy). Now I want mashed potatoes.
I would love to veg things up but by the time steak becomes mandatory for physical health I’m in danger if I deviate from the comfort food due to her mental health.
If it were up to me this thing would be swimming in chimichurri, peppers or any number of other options.
I like to throw in some roughly chopped fennel to the same pan.
If I recall correctly, spinach has a lot of iron in it and it’s green. Added bonus, it makes you able to take on a bully!
She has a history of kidney stones. Spinach is one of the worst things you can give someone with that background.
I have kidney stones sometimes. They told me I couldn’t have leafy greens, and I was heartbroken.
I ignore it and just drink hella water with meals, so far it’s okay, but my shit hurts just thinking about passing another stone. Shit is rough rough, I feel for her
It’s actually nothing special in terms of iron content - about the same as most other vegetables. Its an old urban legend that it’s high in Iron and a deeper academic rabbit whole than you might expect - it is high in vitamin A though.
But it makes them feel better. That’s the real goal.
Oh yeah, for sure. It’s still good for you as are most vegetables, and tasty to boot, but I’ve experienced too many people treat anemia with a spinach rich diet (my family carries the thalacemia genes) so I try to point it out where possible to help inform others.
