And tbh this also seems like a way to manufacture resentment towards ultra orthodox in the settler state since it’s in the interest of the occupation to conscript them.

Israel is the least safe place to be Jewish.

Slightly off topic but I am somewhat curious to see how they twist the little blue commies to suit a capitalist narrative since Peyo is long dead. I remember away back when my young friend’s ultra Christian mom forbade him to watch the Smurfs because they were “Satanic” and “promoted the occult”. She would have lost it knowing that I played D&D (this was during the height of the Satanic Panic) LOL. She completely missed the fact they were communists and Papa Smurf was basically cartoon Karl Marx (maximum cold war era too). Too bad the antisemitic and sexist tropes tarnish the whole collectivism angle. I bet his mom would have approved of THOSE parts though. Ahh, memories.

“Anything vaguely woman-coded causes problems. Have to be careful. One time had brunch with boys and one ordered quiche and STG the whole table almost bent him over the table right there. Tried to join the IOF navy but couldn’t stop myself from humping the ship after another butcher used she/her pronouns for the boat. It’s a minefield out there.”

    Men are not okay.

Andrea Johnson, a Blue Man from 1999 to 2001: As a Black woman, I figured it was a long shot. But to my surprise, they said that as long as I met the height requirement and could drum, I had as good a chance as anyone. Originally, there was a lot of excitement in the organization about my being the first woman hired to be a Blue Man. But then a decision was made not to acknowledge it at all. One of the casting directors explained the Blue Man was supposed to be representative of all people. I guess they wanted to make it seem like blind casting was the natural result of that.
