Was using my work laptop that defaulted to google. If I didn’t have adblock, the actual result wouldn’t even show up without scrolling down.

LMAO Google is so desperate for people to use their AI, as they know their product is fucking shit. If Google’s AI were actually good and useful, people would naturally use a product. However, due to it misrepresenting information or flat out hallucinating news stories or technical information…‘AI’ will remain an untrustworthy tool.

Today in Outlook for Web, a Copilot icon popped up next to the Email, Calendar, People icons. I right clicked on it and was given the option to “uninstall” it. Uninstall what? This is your website, Microsoft. Quit shoving this shit down our throats!

So far I considered myself lucky that google only added AI results in English but recently they also started doing it in other languages. I googled in French which train stations had elevated platforms in my city and the AI results were confidently wrong. Entirely false information.

It even added that one of the downtown stations was closed for renovations, which is also false as it has been reopened since December 2024.

And you can’t disable it. It’s so fucking bad.

Still amazed that tech companies are bleeding billions to keep their AI working in some manner. Like, nobody likes this shit. Nobody thinks it’s a good product, the only people making money off those things are hardware companies like Nvidia. And once AI crashes and burns once for all, they’re gonna suffer massively.

I fear it will be too little too late to save the last remaining scraps of the internet from the behemoth. AI has to collapse once all the venture capital runs out… but the damage will be too severe.

AI should be in cookie popup. I would accept the existence of cookie popups if they put AI as opt out there.

“Okay, yes, it’s terrible. And yes, it’s very seriously damaged our core product. And yes, we’re totally using it for evil. But c’moooonnn! We spent SO MUCH MONEY on this! Just - y’know, use it! All the time. Please. We fired so many useful people to set this piece of crap up! C’mon! USE IT!”

I’ve picked up a muscle memory now to scroll down a certain amount when searching for things. I did notice the other day the AI give me introduction text for a script solution, followed by “something went wrong.” Indeed.

Oh I’m so disappointed. I first noticed that one some search where the ai overview didn’t show up so I assumed Google had done something intelligent and moved the ai overview to another tab of some kind where I could just ignore it.
