Is it George Orwell? Often I’ll just attack the author, as most anti-communist author’s have A LOT of skeletons in their closet.
Plus, if it is Orwell, he writes fiction, which is in no way able to portray the complex structures of the Soviet Union. Anyone can write a fictional story with a biased outcome to make something look bad. It’s not real and you can make things up to fit your agenda.

Just say that he’s on the Council of Foreign Relations. Basically he’s being paid to be a cheerleader for Amerikan empire. That’s enough for most libs to understand, especially with everything going on right now.

Don’t read the book and spend the whole discussion time trashing the writer for being a nazi sympathizer and a fucking clown.
Guy is a sock puppet for the “Congress for Cultural Freedom” if ever I saw one. He makes Orwell look like Tito. The author pushes double genocide theory and is slipshod with his historical accuracy. He writes about Russian electoral interference despite the the overwhelming lack of evidence.
Snyder has skeletons too. His book Bloodlands is a work of fiction. On Tyrrany is just a collection of platitudes.
Snyder isn’t a “liberal revisionist”, he’s a genocide denying fascist propagandist. He peddles the “double genocide” theory which is intended to equate the USSR with Nazi Germany by repeating a debunked propaganda narrative that was literally fabricated by the Nazis, and now engages in apologetics for the mass murders committed by Ukrainian fascists. He, like his fellow anti-communist, fascist sympathizing propagandist Anne Applebaum, is a fanatical, bloodthirsty Russophobe, he was praised by genocidal mass murderers like Henry Kissinger, and he is cited and paid by the most despicable imperialists to legitimize their anti-communist narratives and falsified history. If your book club is reading him, you are in a fascist book club, leave that club immediately.
