I’m pretty sure Musk is struggling because the only way to make Grok consistently right wing is to lobotomize the model to a point where it becomes useless.
There was a previous build that would fairly consistently keep right wing, but it would also praise Nazis and it started calling itself MechaHitler. What Musk seems to want is for the robot to toe the line and dog whistle. He wants the thing to be like an American racist conservative pundit who will rhetorically dance around their own fascism but attempt to stay away from directly saying racist things.
Yeah the robot isn’t going to know how to do that. It only knows how to repeat things its already seen. It doesn’t know where the line is, because even conservatives don’t seem to know where it is and it’s constantly changing anyway. Telling the robot to be a fascist while pretending to not be one will just make it say fascist things.
