All them Witches and King Buffalo are no slouch either.

(King Gizzard has no right to be as amazing as they are at every single music genre.pick one… It’s insane how good they are.)

I’ve always liked U2, Coldplay and Genesis, but I also love Barenaked Ladies, The East Pointers, Great Big Sea. More recently, Bear’s Den, Sons of the East, Amble, Kingfishr, and The Scratch. Just seen Amble last night and they’re incredible live.

Also enjoying KNEECAP, and Chasing Abbey.

I got a few songs into Citadel and I want to like them, but I feel they’d be better served as instrumental based on the painters of the tempest trilogy and pyrrhic. I’ll see about giving Exul a chance though, thanks for the recommendation!

Thats fair! The instrumental portion is absolutely where my ear is tuned Into. The guitar solo on Misericorde pt 2 on Exul is one of my favorite solos of all time and I’ve heard a LOT of guitar solos.

King Crimson is the official answer.

But I put Tool, Meshuggah, Between the Buried and Me, and maybe Karnivool in second place.

Have you heard the stuff that Fripp and Eno did together? “Heavenly Music Corporation”. It’s heavy.

No. There’s a whole lot of Fripp outside of KC that I really haven’t even dipped my toes into. Maybe I will give this a listen.

Did you get some wires crossed here? After looking it up HMC is electronic music by a guy named Kim Cascone. The group you seem to reference is simply Fripp & Eno.

I’m going to check out both anyway, so thanks!

King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard. Their live shows kick ass and they’ve got such amazing chemistry together. Love listening to them jam.

Opeth, although I don’t love their more recent drift away from death metal (dear god it’s been a decade now). I’ve really loved Cattle Decapitation’s newer stuff, too.

Oh and I second the guy declaring that Wu Tang is for the Children

I was never as into Ween as some of my friends were, but The Mollusk is a masterpiece IMO.

It’s kinda like Mr Bungle - California. If you can casually make an album of pop music that good, you have my eternal respect, even if I never fully get into the less approachable work.

The Mollusk is amazing. Not really explored any of their other work because I don’t want to be disappointed that it doesn’t live up to the brilliance of The Mollusk.

Imo most of their music sucks bigtime. Some people like it, idk what they see in it.

But yes, The Mollusk is a masterpiece.
