Good! So the US strategy to sell Venezuelan oil to India flopped 🎉 Just like Kevin Walmsey said in Inside China News, the US is hanging the bag with the Venezuelan oil gained through coercion.
We still have reduced Russian purchases significantly. All they’ve said is that it won’t go down to zero. This was probably pre-negotiated with US.
I’ll be honest, I would be surprised if they didn’t end up doing this anyway.
There was absolutely zero chance of India abandoning billions in trade because the US is mad. Also, the recent farmer protests likely ended up being a decisive factor. Indian economy is heavily reliant on cheap energy from Russia now, and cutting that off would lead to even more unrest.
Sometimes dialectical/historical materialism feels like a superpower.
It certainly lets you see the world a lot more clearly.
