Like I’m proud but… Gotta make sure they’re not browsing hexbear when I’m not looking lol.
My parents came to visit over the weekend, which the kids love. But there’s a bit of tension between my girlfriend and my parents. Generally its my parents asking why the place is a mess and why nothing is being done about it and my girlfriend doesn’t have an answer because she can’t get her mother into gear to chuck anything out.
I feel it manifests with my girlfriend being really on edge, and everything that goes wrong is my fault one way or another. Like I ordered dinner for us, being the immediate family and my parents, and my girlfriend’s mother got upset I didn’t include her and the rest of my girlfriend’s family that live with us. They are the three fussiest eaters I’ve ever met, don’t like to try anything new, and never eat with us anyway. I didn’t assume shit when I didn’t order for them, I worked off years of living with them that they wouldn’t be interested in food from a Vietnamese noodle place they’ve never eaten from before. They literally didn’t eat pizza with us the night before.
My girlfriend finds it stressful when my parents are down, she should realise I’m also stuck in the middle of them and her whenever they visit as well.
I think i might have the most curious toddler of all. I know this is a typically curious age but do all of them ask. Why did you say “x?” What does x mean? Why? What happens if it’s not x? Why? Is X real? Why?
Send help
Like it’s the counterfactuals that get me the most.
Why is it raining? What happens if it’s not raining? What happens the rain isnt water?
My oldest is a tween but is starting to have the big feelings that come with puberty and I’m also on HRT and feeling emotional and this shit is haaaard
My child is sweet and amazing. It feels like he starts to make a milestone before I’m aware I should be helping in achieving it! I gotta read more about development because he’s ahead of my knowledge now
Not sure how old your kiddo is, but you might find The Wonder Weeks a useful resource. It is a little pop science-y, but their week tracker does align with well-researched developmental milestones. What’s nice is having an explanation for changes in sleep and behavior as your child enters and approaches developmental leaps. I found it helpful.
I just looked it up and have a book in my native language super similar! Now I’m curious how much they agree… good recommendation! Thanks

What is it with kids becoming wild animals before bed and not sleepwalking zombies? What is it that makes a tired kid double their energy output just before passing out? Lol. These kids were a menace tonight.
The kids are currently obsessed with the Lego movies, and Lego by proxy. There is a Lego reseller shop in town that sells Lego by the pound. I might swing by there soon and buy a tub.
It seems like a common phenomenon. Little Beaver is just vibrating with energy at 7:15, and then is passed out at 7:45. I my assumption is it’s because it’s some of the most unstructured playtime she gets every day.
Mine goes hyper and then as a final effort to stay awake will claim to be starving hungry, eat exactly 3 fish crackers and then pass out
