That kind of DIY quick-and-dirty stuff should have already appeared in dystopia fiction like The Walking Dead.
It’s not really dystopian but a spike strip garden hose was used in Better Call Saul
I wonder if non-English language zombie stuff has DIY quick-and-dirty stuff. In English it’s rare and that seems so weird to me. You have to be very creative when it’s the end of the world and weapons and matériel resources are few if not rare. It always irks me that in stuff like TWD - when they take out a car - it’s nearly always with weapons/explosive devices.
I’ve never thought too much about this before.
I think the subtextual themes (/social anxieties) explored in traditional zombie movies would be undermined if survivors were depicted doing productive or industrious activity.
