Seriously every other post, every sub seems like nothing but politics. It’s so boring and disgusting. What made reddit great at one time was the diversity of genres and depth. Lemmy is very shallow and politically motivated it seems. I have been here since the Reddit exodus. It’s always been this way.

Do different Lemmy servers have different content?

Are certain severs curated?

Where do I find the depth and deep subject matter.

Everything is politics. Avoiding thinking about or discussing consequential things is a political position which is well served almost everywhere else on the internet.

Because politics has broad “appeal” and people are passionate about it. It’s also a form of propaganda. Different communities will use/abuse their power to influence how their users view issues.

If you haven’t notice yet, the world is burning. It’s burning due to the actions of rich political people. That’s really important. People tend to talk about stuff like that.

The post isn’t beating the allegations. Wanting to avoid political discussions is inherently political.

Umm ok? Yeah, politics are being discussed everywhere. That’s because politics are important. People trying to bury their heads in the sand and pretend they’re not are a big part of why things are going to hell.

If you don’t like political posts, don’t read them.

There’s only 1 (possibly 2, depending on how strictly you define politics) root comments on that linked post related to politics.

Raising quality of life for all human beings will inevitably result in more people who can share your online hobby discussions. Time to get on board

If I can frame this a different way — I wish interest-driven discovery had a little less friction on lemmy/in fediverse. I don’t assume it’s not there. I just haven’t found it yet.

Try other instances. No one forbids you from creating new accounts and explore other instances. And no one prohibits you from leaving completely lemmy.ml either.

I disagree bruh there is wall-to-wall DNC politics posting on other instances. It’s better to pick one with a good technical setup (latency & UI etc), good admins, federation to communities you like, then block & subscribe until Active looks good. The admins on world etc are very weird stalkers and visibly using bots + even allowing ai spam. They adhere to the same ideology as the main people monopolizing & ruining the internet old people here supposedly loved once upon a time (it still exists it’s just not English)

If you’re a liberal who just wants chill people you should simply keep an account on Lemmy.ml/.zip/Lemmygrad/Lemdroid/Hexbear and contribute to hobby discussions, then post your horrible inane commentary on .world politics.

No-no, thanks. Technical instances are fine, but I don’t want to be in instances with high levels of political opinions. ML, Hexbear and Lemmygrad contain too much pro-communist, pro-Russian, pro-USSR idealogies in both comunities and users. Especially, Lemmygrad. Maybe lemmy.world is not saint, but, at least, I don’t see so much annoying posts and comments there, which promote political and social ideologies. For me the best approach is to simply use a neutral instance and block unwanted communities on other instances.

Lemmy.world promotes liberalism and liberal ideologies. It sounds like your issue isn’t with politics in the abstract, but instead with left wing politics in particular.

Not enough people that aren’t interested in politics present here to engage more actively in non-political communities. Lemmy or PieFed still haven’t reached even 1 million of users. While Reddit in glory days had dozens of millions users(not bots).

The main reason people moved out of reddit was a political one lol, of course we are going to get political here.

The fact that you’re so avoidant of the inherent politics of the everyday world is a reaction desirable to the status quo, which is itself political. Congratulations, your kind of politics is status-quo-enjoyer which kills countless people every year for you to remain comfortable and blind to politics.
