I don’t wanna go that far (though I haven’t seen it) but let’s face facts, the original trilogy hasn’t aged well. I loved them in '77, '80, and '83 and for about 10-20 years after that, and for the longest time, I swore that Star Wars was the best movie ever made. It’s a solid 9/10 (and I still like it better than Empire, but by less of a margin now) but it’s not the best movie I’ve seen. (I’m not gonna go there today. Maybe someday. That deserves its own post.)

Still, thinking Andor may be better than the OT hurts my brain. I’m ready for it, though. Or at least I will be after The Expanse. And then something that isn’t sci-fi as a palette cleanser.

Just imagine the original trilogies without Harrison Ford as Han Solo. They’re solid but not great performance and plot. With Harrison Ford, we agree they’re top tier. But Andor kicks ass on all fronts.

I like that analogy. I was a Luke Skywalker fan as a kid, but I can agree as an adult his acting was a bit over the top. Later in life, I liked Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan. Chill old dude who just wanted to be left alone. He really does have a small role in the original, but it’s so important to that film, he seems bigger.

Andor and Expanse are both great. I need to get around to reading The Expanse books someday. I’m tired of not knowing what happens next after the series.

        Minor spoiler:

        spoiler

It’s a time skip situation. They just didn’t wanna film it with an all new cast.

No spoilers but more context: There are nine books. The show adapts the first six, plus the short stories. So the very first story is called Drive, and I think it’s that first jump where the guy can’t reach the controls to stop. Not 100% on that, though. I have them all as audiobooks. Drive is “The Expanse 0.1” and it’s 57 minutes long.

I’m going to go through all the Expanse audiobooks after I go through Dungeon Crawler Carl, which I’m going through after Hyperion and its sequel. The sequel is kinda dragging so I may drop it. I liked Hyperion, but it ended before the story did and that shit annoys me.

I’ve been hearing about Dungeon Crawler Carl everywhere all of a sudden. It’s so weird when you discover something that’s secretly been super popular for awhile now, but you had no idea lol.

I also put off Andor for a long time because I don’t like Star Wars and the fans are usually irritating, like Marvel fans. I’m glad a comrade convinced me to watch it though, it was pretty good.
