It said “after” not “because” and not “died of a surfeit of cinnamon/cardamom buns”
Maybe he was actually suffering from a cardamom deficiency and couldn’t eat ENOUGH buns in time to save his life
He was tragically on his 15th bun, which would have saved his life, when he expired.

That is a mistranslation. It wasn’t cinnamon buns, it was hetvägg, a type of cardamom bun swimming in sweetened hot milk/cream.

14 cinnamon buns would be rookie numbers
hetvägg
Heterosexual/hot wall? 🤔
Hetero pussy
A much sought after delicacy
hot wall?
Given some cinnamon buns I’ve had in in my life, they could have just as well been heated drywall. ;)
Yes, and to add: hetvägg is the precursor to the modern semla, which is probably pretty much a national dish here now.
The traditional hetvägg is equally if not more delicious though, although quite a bit more involved to make.
They are really good. Just make sure the cardamom is mixed in well.
They’re amazing. I can definitely believe someone dying after eating 14 of them in one sitting though. I can barely get through one before I just can’t eat anymore.
and that you’re not a king of sweden
what if you are a queen of sweden?
I make sure of that every morning, just to be on the safe side.
Do you suppose he was trying to be the King of Sweets, too?
Or the king of The Sweet?
Weirdly similar experience - one time in the college cafeteria, where the policy was take all you want but eat all you take, I ate 12 desserts for lunch. The portions were small. I stopped at 12 although I was sure I could eat one more, because I wasn’t sure I could eat two more and stopping at 13 seemed unlucky. Apparently King Adolf lacked my superior power of risk assessment.
As is often the case with oddball food stories, Max Miller of tasting history has done an episode about it
A baker’s dozen of Cinnabon probably won’t kill you immediately. The renal failure, on the other hand…
It might not be a hard limit, 13 might be more like the LD50 of cinnamon buns, more data is needed.
I volunteer!
Baker’s dozen for a reason
That makes 14 a Frederick’s Dozen, then.
To Cinnabon I go…
