It’s probably less because of the “ambient anxiety” and more because AI has become annoying as shit as every ghoul and grifter tries to shill it like some sort of infesting missionary. Being subject to this at your graduation ceremony must be even more aggravating.

Anybody who thinks AI is the problem needs to read more theory. This issue is nothing new. People are mistaking it as some unique threat to workers. The threat to workers is the same it has always been, the capitalists. If everyone gained some class consciousness and recognized this is a class war, this could have been solved a long time ago.

What’s unique is that we’ve witnessed the masses perception of reality disalign with business propaganda. These speeches used to tell new grads to work hard and become entrepreneurs and that propaganda was (and largely still is) simply accepted as neutral advice, but the ai slopaganda is so obviously bad and the ruling class has become so openly incompetent and people’s material conditions are noticeably getting worse and all of these things have resulted in this particular manifestation of the ruling class’ desires being rejected.

The ruling pedophile capitalists would never give the peon peasants ANYTHING for free unless there was a steep, dangerous catch.

I dont think most people believe that here, the issue is the implementation really - If the upper class, like they have in China guaranteed no worker would be replaced by AI shit like this wouldn’t be an issue because the roll calls would still be read by ‘an actual human being’ rather than just used as a measure to get rid of someone who would be employed.

I was thinking more of the baby leftists, which there probably aren’t many here. I get your point, though. I hold the stance that if the means of production was under the control of the masses, the AI would just be another tool. We’re also in a “teething” stage of figuring out what these AI are best utilized for.

In a way it sharpens the contradictions. We live in the time of our very own steam engine, the question is can we seize the moment.

That’s what I think too. It’s not the core of the contradiction, but it does amplify it. If only people would catch on and develop class consciousness.

CEOs, presidents, sports figures or celebrities giving commencement speeches in 2026 is just next level distopian at this point. Even more so that a CEO goes on the podium, tells students to “deal with it” and that they have a responsibility to fix the issues THAT THEY THEMSELVES have made is just… fucked.

These ghouls should not even be giving speeches at any educational facility in the first place; it’s because the US associates being rich with being educated/intelligent that they get any place in the spotlight (and the huge speaking fees the college is probably all too happy to pay).

Comrade, it’s not the AI. It’s the ruling class. They do this with every new means of production. They displace workers to increase the rate of profit. Fighting AI is like mopping the floor instead of stopping the sink from flooding. Fight the ruling class, not the means of production. Capture the means of production, and their power vanishes.
