“Unfortunately, the restriction on American wine has had damaging consequences for regional consumers, businesses, and producers who have no influence over national policies.”

So… The boycott is working as intended tgen?

This was a California senator saying this.

Trump and his administration has been fucking with California non-stop.

We’re talking withholding funds despite the fact we pay more to the federal government than any other state. We’re talking opening dams and destroying water reserves. We’re talking sending swarms of federal agents to abuse and maim protesters while rounding up “immigrants” in the streets.

Sorry your goods are more expensive. We do know what that’s like here, because tarriffs costs are all passed on to us directly.

The west coast is the primary wine region in the us. Washington, Oregon, and California all voted against trump every time he was on the ballot. A boycott on wine does cause harm primarily to the states that were always against this, hence the senator’s reaction.

There is a simple way to help the wine industry during this crisis, leave the US. Now’s the time. Make it happen, senator.

And if we did away with the electoral collage that would matter. As it stands all those votes get tossed in the bin and the electors vote D every time. Its not a good system but… well its ours.

those voters do have some impact with the house of reps, per Wikipedia

As of June 2, 2026, California is represented by the following elected officials, 42 Democrats and 8 Republicans, and 1 independent

I said it a while ago and I will say it again. This I’d a reverse Canada on Strike. On South Park they had an episode where Canada goes on strike on a world scale and somehow no one notices or cares.

In this case the US is the one doing it… And people aren’t super crazy about it, either.

canada, an entire nation… california, a mere state among many… they each have about the same number of people. canada’s population is spread out over a much, much larger area, but they’re pretty close in ‘size’ nonetheless.

if a market that small makes-or-breaks your industry… perhaps that industry has more pressing issues a little closer-to-home. it should be easy enough to make-up for the loss of canada by selling more domestically instead. there’s 300 million other people in your own country you could be selling to. why aren’t you mad at them for not buying more of your product?

no you see its not that they arent making enough money, its that the money theyre making isnt growing fast enough. dont you know not buying a thing is basically stealing money from these companies pockets? youre stealing the money they could have made. wont anyone think of the shareholders?

oh wait sorry thats the argument they use against piracy.

The headline that should have been.

I’m getting really tired of media outlets sucking up to Trump by glazing over how his shit policies are fucking everything up.

Edit: also, fuck Adam Schiff. The democratic party hand picked their successor to Feinstein and got exactly what they wanted, another corporate stooge.

Good. Neoliberals like Gavin enabled the fascist tech bros so reap what you sow. Does he still have that podcast where he licks fascist nuts? Or is he just devoting all his time to blocking the one time five percent billionaire tax? California should enact the pre Reagan 70% billionaire tax every year
