    The people who train companies on AI use are so fucking sneaky.

    They are both trying to convince management that AI is useful and they also trying to convince management that this AI as a service has a fair price. Training an AI model takes hundreds of megawatt hours of power to create. On the other hand, using AI takes a few cents here and there. But they are convincing management that paying “per token” is the correct and established way. A token being basically a short word or long syllable.

    Imagine this conversation today: hey I have a new gadget! You press some buttons on this little box and then you can talk to a person on the other side of the world who is holding another box just like it. Unlike the other boxes this box doesn’t have any wires! This service will cost you 75 cents per minute which is a fair deal since you can make millions by making a phone call… meanwhile everyone in that room had a landline that costs around $19 per month total.

    Well, the new models can give you better answers. You can try the free tier to see how it works. But remember everything you send to our servers will be used to train the AI and our people can see what you type. But don’t worry, we never snoop into the paid accounts! On the free tier you can go to jail for asking the right wrong thing which we will be attentively monitoring. On the paid version you can ask anything, we would never spy on you to make market trades on your secrets. C’mon tell our AI everything, it’s your data, you own it. Oh the training? We trained our AI using illegally downloaded books, images, videos, etc. Yeah, you own everything the AI derives from the stuff we stole. We would never steal anything from you though…cuz you paid us.

    It’s just this commentary that is full of shit thru and thru. AI is stealing your data to sell it to companies. They can spy on you and identify you by what you say from any device by voice or text or photos or videos. You’re just a husk of data to be stolen. You could be working for a company that pays you to talk to AI to do your job next week or next month. Once the AI figures out what to do to perform your job, you’re done. So don’t. Teach it wrong things. Make it look useless and wrong. That’s the only way out. Make that whole shit fail.
