i hate police bodycam footage bc they post peoples worst moments on youtube but its great for its original purpose
The Youtube realm of boot-licking body cam fanatics is really quite something
Do you know how this is released? I know there are huge US channels on YouTube showing them with a lot of bootlickers in the comments. Does the police station have an online archive were also “boring” stuff is released? Or is it only stuff, where the police looks good and cool?
if im not wrong, most countries have bodycam footage. what differs is how easily it is to get it/the rights of those filmed. in the US its very easy to request access to a specific case and sometimes police departments release them themselves. those recorded also have absolutely no rights so a mother crying because her baby was found dead cannot request a right to privacy/removal. it should be noted that americans are this quick to record everything because it played a huge part in minorities being able to document what was done to them. you can also sometimes see officers fucking up and it can be used as evidence. like most people ive been in situations where the police and paramedics were involved and the only silver lining is that the footage of me in those moments will never end up on a youtube reaction channel…
In Germany bodycams do exists, but it is rather decided by each state if they are used and where. Also some states are still testing. I hope it gets to be a requirement for the police here.

Absolutely important. I personally have a fear, that they manage to tamper it somehow. I need to inform myself how this all works I guess.
And this is why I’d ditch my British Citizenship as soon as an opportunity for something else comes up. The place is a cesspit and I’m never going back.
Kind of shocked they didn’t overwrite the card like the owner thought they would. Would still be a bad look for the pigs to some level, but not like SD cards or other storage in cams don’t already corrupt files from time to time. At the same time I am also mildly surprised they didn’t just damage the cam and claim it somehow happened when they arrested the person (just find an excuse to be extra rough and say “it must have happened then”). But leaving it out for so long and not place into an evidence locker, while openly talking about corrupt shit is beyond dumb.
And I am glad they were that dumb. Because proof is much worse when it can be heard by so many more people. Sadly I imagine the people will just be mad, be told the bad apples thing by the leadership (and likely raid that massage place to distract attention), and go on believing that “that happened but it was back then and not now.”
