He has life behind his eyes because he has internalized the inherent beauty of Brutalism properly accessorized by functional plant features and/or public art

You can honestly sprinkle plants on anything to make it look good.

Brutalism gets a bad name but it is truly a beautiful design philosophy, it shows the function of a structure out in the open, you can’t hide it behind anything.

brutalism is a socialist design philosophy in its essence which is why it’s so performatively despised by liberals.

There is horrid inhuman Brutalism, and there is Brutalism that marries the use of affordable and efficient mass construction from prefabs with human needs for light, air, and breaks from rectilinear patterns.

This university is a shining example: https://www.ignant.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/ignant-photography-arnau-vidal-the-modern-lima-01-2880x1919.jpg

Anyone who hates shit like that just doesn’t understand that it’s the only reliable way to meet everyones needs.

Needs plants and a snazzy paintjob tbh. Maybe some of that cool artwork you see on the side of soviet buildings

Brutalism is rooted in hope. Rapid reconstruction of public spaces after the devastation of World War 2, enabled entirely by industrial construction materials

I like brutalism even without plants!

I’m not sure if it’s just because I associate it with state capacity that used to exist but no longer does or just cause it looks cool.

We desperately need more plants. Shade from plants is literally different because they respire and give off moisture. I would very much like to not bake when I’m walking around a city. Very no take only buy mentality other wise.

Hey architecture fans, of what style is this very phallic thing? I ran into it in a wiki rabbit hole and I think it’s a cool building

    It’s the headquarters of NEC.

Contemporary Modernism put into a tower

      Villa Savoye:

      Weissenhof Estate: .

Few more examples here from Oscar Niemeyer: https://landmarksarchitects.com/oscar-niemeyers-architectural-style/

I like it a lot more than the glass corpo buildings. It’s not bad and does seem to carry a lot of brutalism influence.

I honestly love brutalism with plants. I like concrete and glass. And you can strain concrete. Very green plants on concrete is cold and welcoming at the same time.
