A Sikh truck driver survived harrowing attack in which he was beaten then stabbed 17 times in a rest stop off a Wyoming highway on Sunday, according to news reports.

The suspected assailant, Andrew Kris Bzdak, reportedly fled the scene, before Wyoming highway patrol troopers arrested him, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Bzdak has been charged with attempted first-degree murder. As of Friday, he was being held at the Sweetwater county detention center on a $1m bail, according to an inmate roster.

“I thought that now my final time had come,” the driver told the Bee.

Sikhs taking fire because Americans are manipulated into hating Muslims is so tragic. In my limited experience Sikhs are some of the coolest, chillest, kindest people.

Like, Americans shouldn’t hate Muslims either, don’t get me wrong. But fuck.

It’s always irked me especially because Sikhs actually exemplify a lot of the values that Christians claim to love. For instance: if you are unhoused and hungry, a Sikh temple is one of the best places you could go for help.

I really fucking hate the redneck hate cult here.

I want to point out that the article says that there probably wasn’t any confusion here. The victim was targeted because he was a Sikh, and anti-Sikh mentality has been on the rise. Not that that’s really any better.

I don’t understand why anyone could be anti-Sikh. Unless it’s just good old xenophobia. But thank you for pointing that out.

Edit: Ah yes, it’s xenophobia. Cool. This fucking country…

But it’s only xenophobia because of the racism. South Africans are cool. Any religious bias in this country is always because of being associated with a non-white race.

Probably not really anti-Sikh, just generally anti anyone who looks to be of middle Eastern descent. I would be surprised if the attacker could even recognize a member of the Sikh faith or even know anything about the the religion. I expect the attacker knows nothing but hate.

It only shows that the kind of people that do such things are not just psychologically disturbed, they are also very very stupid.

Your right nobody deserves hate for their faith. Except fascists and authoritarians who hide behind their so called beliefs to inflict their invalid wills unto others, then is really genocide? Also the Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, and Scientologist cause fuckem.

I don’t give a shit about the faith, they can believe what they want as long as it doesn’t hurt other people. It’s the practice of the faith that is often the problem. And being religious does not justify discrimination of women, LGBT or people of another faith.

In that regard Sikhism is just about the least harmful religion AFAIK. Way better than Christianity, Islam or Judaism.

In a since deleted post to X, DHS officials shared a movie poster-style image of a man with a bandana facing off a Transformer from the popular toy and movie franchise, with the words: “Self deport or Find Out.” At the bottom of the image, it also read; “Get off our roads, you don’t know how to drive Mr Singh.”

DHS officials responded to criticism that the post was xenophobic, saying it was a pointed reference to an Indian-descent truck driver who was accused of making an illegal turn before crashing an 18-wheeler into a minivan, killing its occupants.
