They (all) just keep increasing prices. I’m sitting here with no subscription to anything and waiting for the day when this business model crumbles. Everyone complains they can’t afford groceries, can they afford entertainment?

Yes. Because when life sucks, you need something to take your mind off of your problems. I agree that we should vote with our wallets, but for the most part, those willing to continue paying far outweigh us waiting to watch it all fall.

Furthermore, that’s a vast difference in cost comparisons.

The price hike follows Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney’s decision to bundle their streaming services, Disney+, Max and Hulu. The bundle will be available in both ad-supported and ad-free tiers. While the pricing has not been disclosed, CNBC reported that it will be offered at a discount in an effort to make it a more desirable option.

Whats even cheaper than bundling is only subscribing to one at a time and canceling before subscribing to the next one. Rotating services make for a pretty cheap monthly streaming bill.

Even better is your monthly streaming bill being $10 in electricity and a $5 VPN subscription (if you’re in a country where your ISP sends angry letters and you don’t opt for Usenet instead)

They will send angry letters about damn near anything too. I made the mistake of not having my Windscribe VPN turned on on my tablet while torrenting an exam book I didn’t feel like waiting for at the library. 6MB which took a split second to get and I got a nice angry letter.

They’re in for a rude awakening if they think they can leverage :: checks notes:: 🤣🤣House of the fucking Dragon🤣🤣 into a price increase without losing subscribers.

Come on guys if you’re going to do this shit at least try it with a good show first.

Capitalism is destroying itself. It’s happening slowly, but on a long enough timeline, it can be observed. I don’t know that it’ll implode in my lifetime, but it’s certainly well on its way.

    TIL Warner Brothers owns HBO.

Totally did not know that. I know that AT&T sold it but didn’t realize Warner Brothers bought it.

WB has always had ties to HBO & has traditionally focused on showing WB content.

Discovery, Scripps, Time Warner & HBO were all tied up in the Discovery-AT&T merger.

HBO is now part of Warner Media, which is part of Warner Discovery.

That’s why we went from an app with incredible HBO shows and movies, to Max which is full of Discovery channel “reality” TV garbage.
