I used to need a bunch of them, then I got old and started going to bed at 9 almost every night and now I wake up within five minutes of 7 o clock EVERY day.

Probably would have been that way all along if not for all the drugs and alcohol I guess

The trick is to figure out how long you sleep naturally and go to sleep that amount of time before you need to wake up. Doesn’t work for insomniacs unfortunately.

Yes, he knows when I’m in that deep sleep like 30-60m before my alarm goes off, so that when I give him the boot I don’t have enough time to go back to bed for any meaningful sleep.

Hint: it wakes up so punctually because it can hear the mice scratching in the walls, who are reacting to your boiler starting to heat the pipes at 7am sharp.

I don’t think there’s a bigger bliss in this world than waking up randomly at night, looking over at the clock and realizing it’s still early as fuck so you can go back to sleep 🤤

Me when I have morning meetings, every time without fail. I specifically ask people don’t schedule shit until 10AM because of this, and most people are chill with it, thankfully.

My wife will sometimes say she’s setting a “mental alarm” when she’d like to get up at a certain time but it’s not actually critical to be awake then and she tends to wake up right around then. There are plenty of times she wakes up one minute before her real alarm, too.

I’ve done the e wake up <5 minutes before my alarm lots of times. The problem is then I go right back to sleep and snooze the alarm for the next 8-24 minutes and end up late.

I kinda have to figure out when i want to wake up before i go to bed, and then it’s enough. I have never used an alarm in 20 years. I just know when i wanna be up and i wake up before it. Sue me.

See, I can do this, and often do. I wake up at 0730 naturally and it’s a great feeling when I wake up a couple of mins before the alarm. But I do set an alarm - because I’d never, ever bank on it.

Sod’s Law I’d sleep in when I need to catch a flight.

Does she sleep a consistent schedule & get enough sleep, or is she able to do this despite waking up after 5 hours of sleep at a time that’s 4 hours earlier when working than on weekends?

I hate it when I wake up with a panicked feeling of amyway. I broke up with Amy like 6 years ago now and she still haunts my dreams.

I really hate that I can’t get a lie in on the weekend. Kids wake up and my brain wakes up. I’ll have to start going to bed earlier…which I hate. I want to stay up and play video games and wake up late. But I guess I’m becoming an old man and need to embrace the old man life.

I’m everything in this photo. I can wake up if I need to at 600, but I get paranoid that I won’t so I set my alarm for 530. Then I get paranoid that I’ll sleep through that alarm so I set one for 545, and finally another for 600. I don’t trust snooze because I’ve accidentally turned off the alarm too many times while trying to hit snooze.

But most of the time I will wake up 5 minutes before each of the three alarms.

A propos of nothing, I think this is one of the funniest images ever made. The pure horror of the small child, the utter confident terror of the elder, the random shingles, the unexpected wooden bucket, the crazy cute rabbit staring at the unexpected wooden bucket - just pure genius
