I think a more pertinent question is this:

Does being a part of an online socialist community increase a person’s likelihood of taking part in “offline” socialist organizing?

Posting isn’t praxis, but if an image gets someone thinking, I’ll take it.

Praxis is how you apply theory in your actions

Like, philosophically, or what does the word itself mean?

It probably doesn’t hurt the movement but I dunno if it’s that big of a help

Rarely. The memes tend to be insular. Go outside and do shit instead.

The thing about memes is that short, quippy ones are the ones that gain traction and get shared a lot. Much of theory is densely worded using terminology most people don’t find accessible. In order to make effective communist memes, we have to simplify things, which necessitates a loss of nuance. That loss of nuance can lead to more harm than good.

Propaganda is important. It isn’t everything, but it’s important. Without commie memes there would only be non-commie memes.
