      Everything I can find online says the things smell strongly of ammonia, which can apparently be compared to old human urine or cat urine

        Well, take it from me, a person who has eaten them many, many, many times, in China, they do not smell of piss

        Edit: this is one of those insane moments where I come across Western brain worms and despite my 100% lived experience that confirms the brain worms are brain worms, I find myself arguing against people who have absolutely zero experience of the topic beyond a Wikipedia article
