The Green candidate won over 40% of the vote. Reform UK came in second place with over 28%. New Labour only got third place with around 25% of the vote, which is about half of what they got for this parliamentary seat in the 2024 elections (i.e. a massive drop in support).

Hopefully a good sign of greater things to come. Please don’t let Reform have any part in your government.
by-election
I never googled that. I’ve always assumed it’s what we (Americans) would call a special election. Are they basically the same thing?

Edit
Despite myself - I googled by-election vs special election. The results were such shit - I went to page 2. I checked a site and now I’m a bit confused.
Yep. It’s the same thing.
Google is such shit now. A lot of search engines are, and AI isn’t helping 😕
A vs B used to be golden. I shouldn’t be surprised that it’s broken. But c’mon - google - can’t at least one thing work?

Ninja edit. Now that I’m thinking about it - the 2nd page result site I went to might have been AI infected crap.
For once some good news, I’ll take it!
Been seeing voxpop clips of reform voters - they have no idea what they’re actually voting for 100% of the time, and have circled around reform like flies on shit simply because they’ve been led to believe that this tiny isle is just too small for all the immigrants.
Doesn’t matter that we are a net-import economy that would depend either on degrowth (muh treets!) or increasing immigration, building more houses and actually bothering to integrate immigrant communitiesA thank you to all the guitarists at Gorton and Djenton 🎸
