Olivier De Schutter was a UN Special Rapporteur on poverty and wrote a takedown of the belief that global economic growth will eventually eliminate poverty, a position promoted by the World Bank, among others.
There are plenty of people out there with good ideas, they just seem to never break into the political mainstream

Marx’s early works are really interesting from this perspective. His communism very clearly developed out of his disappointment with liberalism for not making good on its promises of rights, freedoms, etc
Adding onto that, I think I understand why liberal propaganda is so effective.
Maybe I’m showing my ass here, but I really really want to be proven wrong and liberal capitalist democracy brings about a freer, safer world. Because many a lefty wants liberalism to work, that’s where the propaganda gets its power from.
