Italy started fuel rationing. Talks about what to do are occurring around Europe right now. The conversation in the UK in political circles (not the media) is shifting towards the need for lockdowns and enforcing work from home.
Europe, occupied Korea, and Japan seem to be the most vulnerable regions. And I’m guessing things are going to get a lot worse by the end of the month because that’s when new tankers would’ve arrived if Hormuz wasn’t closed.
South and Southeast Asia as well
Although, I imagine they will make deals with Russia and Iran for oil. The problem the vassals have is that the US won’t allow them to do that.
Perhaps, India could be alright, but moving away from China will be brutal for SE Asia. Japan seems to be making deals, but we’ll see what happens when the leash is yanked
Yeah, going to be interesting to watch. Given that Philippines is now all of a sudden recognizing one China policy, I’m guessing they’re gonna to pivot to China sooner than later now. There’s really nothing the US can offer.
it’s just like covid fr, asia hit first, then italy as the canary in the coalmine for the west
why Italy?

eyyyyy
They just happened to be the first place where things got crazy in both of these situations, I guess. I remember hearing about Italy being totally locked down well before the US started getting hit hard.
idk, maybe just me but i noticed reports of mass hospitalizations and funerals due to covid in italy coincided with the US shutting down in a few days
Can any historians confirm that this is the first public message from a sitting president to use the apostrophized word “fuckin’”?
yes, it’s a national tragedy
He wants to launch a nuke and turn the Middle East into glass so fucking bad. What time is the clock set to, because one of the things the president is actually allowed to do is launch a nuclear weapon with no approvals, no second guesses or anyone else to bounce it off of first.
What a time to be alive. Of all the eras, in all the timelines, this is the one I am in.
In the Netflix documentary “Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War,” talking about MAD (mutually assured destruction) somebody makes a statement similar to this:
“If one nuke gets launched, they all get launched. And they take 30 minutes to reach any point on earth, so the average person will have no idea WHY the world is ending, they’re just gonna see nukes blowing everything up.”
But if it happened right now… we’d all know exactly what the fuck happened, and exactly who to blame.
That’s talking about equally matched nuclear powers or else it’s nonsense.
Fact is no one is sticking their neck out to get nuked for someone else. China and Russia are not going to launch all their nukes and have their civilizations and countries destroyed for Iran. Same as US wouldn’t avenge Japan or Germany for example if they got nuked.
At best the issue is when dealing with two nuclear powers, the instant one strikes the other with a single nuke then all attacks from then on may be presumed to be nuclear attacks and how do you respond proportionately is the problem. The US war-planners as well as Russians have tables and scenarios for how to respond to limited nuclear weapon use including escalation options and mere equal response options. There is some sense that if you got hit with a single nuke, as long as it’s not a city full of people you have to then avenge that you can limit things from spiraling into full nuclear war which no one wants because it’s ultimately self-defeating. The hesitation on the part of people using them first is you can’t be positive you can limit escalation, that is that your opponent won’t escalate and force you into an escalation ladder you cannot escape which is why there is so much hesitancy. But again this is all with regards to nuclear powers striking each other.
The US will phone China and Russia central military commands and let them know 5 minutes or more before the detonation of such a device out of an abundance of caution to prevent them from assuming they’ll be targeted. China and Russia will in the event of an ally being nuked express outrage and condemnation but will not launch themselves if there is no sign the US is moving to target them next. It’ll certainly change the world and drive more countries to attempt to nuclearize which is another reason why internal strategic planners for the US and other nuclear powers look down on the use of such weapons because any use risks upsetting the status quo and creating an entirely more dangerous world where your nuclear primacy is less special.
The US will phone China and Russia central military commands and let them know 5 minutes or more before the detonation of such a device
lol. lmao. Have you seen Pete Hegseth?
Thankfully we have Russian and Chinese sanity, but the fear is also escalation. 300kt bomb can be responded with a 400kt and so on. It’s a precedence that should never be set
The question here is what would Iran do?
Rumours aside of Iran having a secret soviet nuke from decades past and all that, the only thing I can think of that they could do in kind to USreal is to hit Dimona hard enough that it becomes an out-of-control Chernobyl like event.
Iran has of course prepared as best they can for every potential situation; they’ve been planning this for for decades. They’ve hinted at having a surprise in store for USreal if they are on the receiving end of a nuclear attack, but that of course could just be posturing. Who knows.
This is true if it went by ICBM but more than likely they’d use a B2, precisely to avoid getting the entire planet annihilated
where i live, i surely would be toast without even knowing it was coming… im thankful for that i guess
Same here. I’m close enough to a US naval installation that repairs helicopters that can’t be repaired anywhere else. I think it’s had nukes allotted to it since the Cold War.
A bright flash, a stupidly extreme wind, some heat and there I go.
Didn’t Nixon try to drunkenly nuke Korea, and everyone just waited for him to sleep it off?
General McArthur requested 50 nukes to drop on China during the Korean war 💀💀
The only sources I can find are extremely imperialist military magazines and such. I wouldn’t trust it.
because one of the things the president is actually allowed to do is launch a nuclear weapon with no approvals
Yes and no…
This would be the case if there was a bolt out of the blue attack, like a nuclear powered entity sent a missile our way, the President, or whoever is next in the chain of succession line would be offered several targeting packages; specially, given that any response would guarantee reciprocal attacks from various countries. I think right now, you are more likely to have the military offering caution on the use of weapons, with all the simulations on what would happen next. I don’t doubt China and Russia have already talked to Trump about the use of nukes in Iran, and what would happen to America. That’s why they are trying to destroy the nuclear facility within Iran, to make a dirty bomb.
Noted proceduralists, the Trump administration
True. But I feel like if it had been Trump’s decision to make, he would have nuked afghanistan during his first term, and then Iran during the opening salvo of last year’s war, or during this round.
Yeah, conservatives constantly “joke” about glassing muslims in nuclear hellfire. All it will take is one bad day and they’ll take out the whole world
