I graduated from high school the year after 9/11 into a job market that was desolated. I worked, struggled, and was homeless during the housing collapse when my girlfriend (now wife) lost her home and her vehicle and was financially devastated. I went to college and got a degree in tech. Now I’m jobless again as the economy crumbles around me, had to cash out my meagar retirement, am financially devastated, have nothing while AI destroys the career opportunities fdor the degree I still owe on. Where’s the fucking privilege? Where? Half my friends gave up and OD’d. The other half are losing their houses or could never afford on in the first place. We are all Millennials.
Anyone that can lose their house, never owned it in the first place. (Clarify: talking about mortgages, not property taxes which are no joke either)
That’s the great millennial scam, and the materialist last gasp of capital. Go in debt to become an engineer. Go in debt to own a car. Go in debt to buy a home. Go in debt to get a medical procedure.

All of this, things that people didn’t go in debt for just one generation ago. No wonder society has just continued to fall apart since this scam has been realized. All of this, just to keep the facade of capitalisms victory running just a few more years.
