Is a generous interpretation possible, such that maybe Apple are trying to not provide targets to the IDF? I mean fuck Apple but the point of doing this isn’t immediately obvious.
I think the more generous (and simpler) interpretation is that their maps suck and they never had detail there—we’d need a before and after to draw any conclusions.

Every time I wonder if I should switch to Apple products, because Google and Microsoft are shitty companies, I’m shown that Apple is no better. Guess I stick with Android a while longer.

The only objectively true thing is that Apple devices have stronger hardware security that can only be matched on Android by GrapheneOS. So if your primary concern is the feds trying to crack your phone using their Israeli software, it might be better to use Apple.
given how most apple software is proprietary, it’s a safe bet to assume that the feds have some backdoors in there anyway.
Though keep in mind that (IIRC) feds were able to restore received Signal messages (after the app was deleted) from an iPhones internal push notification database.
