Y’know, I’ve been working on just letting people enjoy things. TBBT is obnoxious and unfunny and I hate it, but if people get a laugh out of it, I should just be happy for them. God knows there are media properties I laugh at that have problematic aspects and I generally don’t feel bad about it (especially stuff that’s long over like Yes Minister) and we could all do with a chuckle to smooth our path through hellworld.

I had a roommate that fucking looooved TBBT and I have consequently sat through most of the show, really helped refine my dislike of it. The characters ranging from socially inept ND to socially inept sex pest doesn’t do it any favors even if the humor wasn’t just the writers pulling from whatever well known nerd shit they could think of and obviously didn’t give a shit about.
I don’t think I’ve ever watched even a single full episode.

He never had control of the studio. He was renting the studio. He already has another shooting space, everything except the name “infowars” was transferred to two new companies years ago, and hes being paid a huge sum for use of the name infowars.

I think all the licensing revenue from the name Infowars is going directly to the Sandy Hook families. I believe his inability to pay the debt from that lawsuit is the whole reason he has to sell the name in a forced fire sale

He hasn’t and isn’t paying them a dime. The Onion is paying the victims on behalf of Alex Jones through a licensing deal. As far as Alex Jones is concerned the debt was imaginary and continues to be imaginary as he hasn’t lost any real assets

I think you are right about the licensing. He keeps hinting that the won’t be allowed to sell Infowars branded merchandise anymore.
QAA interviewed Ben Collins the CEO of The Onion about the situation 2 days ago and the way he described it, before The Onion started doing this stunt noone was going to outbid Jones from purchasing back the property. He was gonna lowball and just get everything back anyways. I have no idea if he’s [Ben] just selling himself and the Onion big. He also mentioned the families are not entirely enthusiastic about what they’re doing, but not disapproving it and The Onion is trying to win them over and convince them the only way they’re going to get anything out of this is through whatever money Tim and The Onion manage to make through this.
I also saw Tim Heidecker talking to Sam Seder about it and he seemed very flustered but enthusiastic about the situation and intimated that alot of this stuff is very up in the air right now.
