Sadly not surprising to anybody who knows Döpfner’s behavior. I keep bringing this up when people link Politico, the entire Axel Springer publishing house is one giant, well-oiled and terrifyingly efficient reactionary campaigning instrument, the German equivalent to Rupert Murdoch and the like. And taking a rabidly zionist stance is a personal crusade of his, even moreso than his general fondness of all kinds of imperialist, capitalist, anti-environmentalist and chauvinist positions. We’re talking about a guy who insists on constantly flying the occupation’s flag in front of his Berlin offices, he’s absolutely fanatic in his genocide support.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t link to Politico articles, a large outlet like that will often enough have noteworthy stuff to report and will frequently be the first to dig something up, it’s just inevitable with their ressources - but we should absolutely always keep their top-down enforced bias in mind and they absolutely count as a reactionary source that should be archived instead of linked directly.
Was so weird to listen to TrueAnon center the Antideutsche when talking about German-Israel relations rather than the publicly stated guideline of the Springer corporation that ownes most of the German press.
I mean, Antideutsche are absolutely a thing if you’re active in leftist circles in Germany and they make up basically all of the “compatible left” here. And honestly, they can be a pain in the ass, when i look at the top 5 wreckers i’ve come across in recent years 4 were Anti-D. But obviously, a splinter group of armchair post-left losers aren’t what is actually driving the anti-Palestinian repression here, they aren’t responsible for Germany’s foreign policy and they do not sell submarines to the occupation government.
