Was working on the shed, and the Hammer head gave way. I found the store where I originally bough it and bought a new handle. Modified it to fit and put it on. Now the hammer can do its job again

    Everything is defective now, my new shovel just broke in half on moderate usage, 2 years old, my older ones are still in use.

    It has been getting worse our entire lives, but now the enshitification has gotten to the point where I can’t trust to buy products from previously trustworthy suppliers. Not just home depot shovels, but best buy electronics are all garbage now.

    I find myself surprised at how similar the color of the old handle is to the new one. I feel I would expect it to be darker. Anyway, wishing you decades of happy hammering.

    I love old pieces of metal that haven’t really changed for centuries and still do their job perfectly. But regarding head/handle breakage you can’t go wrong with Fiskars tools.

    Their axes are famous (for that). They use some sort of special technique where the head and the handle are not quite one piece but still inseparable, indestructible. I’m guessing the same goes for their hammers.

    Sorry for advertising, but everybody uses them around here, it’s a no-brainer, and I live close to their origin.

        Even on this older specimen you can see that they go beyond “traditional” axe heads:
        axe head :: width=30%
        Your Fiskars head has a lip that protects the usual breaking point. It evolves into this, which is still available today:
        fiskars axe :: width=30%
        But you don’t see this model much around here, almost everyone has a variation of this:
        fiskars axe :: width=30%

      You all need it as much as any. Yes you are absent a blowhard leader, but are heading in the wrong direction faster than any, currently cancelling the magna carta and even goddamn jury trials and the right to protest. Plus the masterbaitorbase, a whole big thing on age controls, so much else.

      We are fucked in the US too don’t get me wrong, but jesus christ, england was the birthplace of modern liberty, and it’s being dismantled in real time to no real push back.
