Why does it matter? The president is a serial child rapist, thief, conman, sadist and possible child murderer and he’s supported by all of the GOP.

If our choices aren’t effective then we lose, regardless of the morals or ethics of any of it.

Plenty here on Lemmy have been. I’ve seen posts declaring he’s a predator with more upvotes than downvotes. I’ve seen comments alleging the same.

It’s honestly pretty sad how many have fallen for such an obvious smeer campaign, doing the work of the Zionists and Republicans whether they realize it or not

Its wild to me like I just look at who is against him and that says a lot. Israel, democratic leadership, and Maga hates the guy, sweet well I hate all of those fuckers and they would hate me too so it sounds like I’m pretty aligned with Platner. I haven’t even needed to research his positions either since I’m not from Maine.

Say Graham joined the military to kill people, because that is what he said, and called him a MERC. Have some person rant about my formatting of MERC claiming he never was one, nor said that. I cite the quote, and point to the wikipedia person posts to refute my claims says that he joined a PMC in afghanistan.

    Conversation removed from thread.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/u-senate-candidate-graham-platner-215012230.html

“In a January 2, 2020, on the Reddit thread, “Why Did You Enlist In The Marines?” Platner posted, “I wanted to have an adventure and kill some people.”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Platner#Military

“After his military service, he worked as a State Department security contractor in Afghanistan "

“In 2018, Platner returned to Kabul, Afghanistan, for about six months as a State Department security contractor with Constellis, where he provided diplomatic security to the US Ambassador to Afghanistan.”

Constellis, BTW, inherited what Blackwater was doing when Blackwater dissolved their corporation legally because it was in a PR/legal nightmare. So Constellis was basically Blackwater by another name.

Getting a little sick of this progressive push to put this human butcherer into a position of power. Politically this guy is a made man. Powerful people are paying for him to get where he is. He might be the lesser of evils, but that ain’t saying much.

Only the worst of things such as stopping the war with Iran, not providing any money/weapons to Israel, universal healthcare, taxing the rich, and the most horrible is that he supports trans people even the kids.

Clearly an evil man who will punish hundreds of people for the benefit of millions of Americans.

Please. Platner’s past is so spotty that there would only be a conspiracy if this didn’t get discussed.

I’m not telling you to avoid voting for him, but he’s definitely got a checkered past.

You mean the guy who said he joined the infantry because wanted adventure, and to kill people? Then did as many tours as they would let him? Then became a MERC to continue doing that? The one with the nazi tattoo?

Oh no, he sent some unprofessional texts, let’s go instead hard on that.

No I absolutely parse what is going on here. I just find it shit that this he said, she said, drama is what is going on, when the guy has said he joined the military, and then became a MERC, because he wanted to kill people. The tattoo mention is just a little icing.

simple search - Graham Platner I wanted to join the army because I wanted adventure, and to kill people. Then you can look up his service history, he has posted about it in numerous places over the years. It literally takes seconds to find the reddit archives of it, since, as soon as that account was tied to him, he deleted all those comments, but they had been archived. Take like 30 seconds to search it.

He worked for fucking Constellis, which inherited Blackwater’s contracts when they dissolved and reformed. He spent six month in Afghanistan working for the PRIVATE MILITARY COMPANY, in other words, a mercenary. This information is in the wikipedia article YOU linked.

"After his military service, he worked as a State Department security contractor in Afghanistan "

“In 2018, Platner returned to Kabul, Afghanistan, for about six months as a State Department security contractor with Constellis, where he provided diplomatic security to the US Ambassador to Afghanistan.”

It’s right there, he became a fucking MERC.

You said you watched his campaign closely, yet you only post a Wikipedia page to refute my claims of Platner working for a PMC, and in that same article it straight says that is what he did.

You also claimed he never said the bit of about joining the military to kill people, yet he did. It took me literal seconds to find all this information, and I, in no way, consider myself to be watching his campaign closely.

If you want to get into this he said/she said crap, like the posted article, he has a number of ex’s that claim he talked about, and behaved, in disturbing ways, with at least one saying how she was told his unit specifically got the totenkopf tattoo because they drew parallels from what they were doing to military groups like the SS. You can look this one up yourself. I have proven what I say has backing, you haven’t.

Why are you trying to cover for this whack job?

If you ever wanted proof that the attacks against Graham Platner are dishonest and motivated by a desire to manipulate, misdirect and smear, here it is.

Man, you sure are downplaying the whole “I wanted to kill people” part. It’s almost like you’re trying to manipulate and misdirect the conversation

They are also lying about him never being a mercenary. In the very wikipedia article he cites it says he worked for Constellis, which inherited blackwater’s contracted when they dissolved, then reformed, basically working for blackwater under a different name.

They also claim they are watching his campaign closely, yet their only refutation cited is a wikipedia article, which actually backs my claims. These people are so weird defending this guy.

EDIT - Oh it seems this conversation was too much and it has been removed from the original post. Cowards.
