A band I really like is coming to town but the venue doesn’t have any seats other than if you pay 100+ dollars for a balcony ticket or need ADA seats. I hate general admission, man. But that seems to be all that’s ever available without getting milked. There’s like 1 venue that has concrete walls large enough to sit on unofficially, but that’s it.

I’m capable of standing for 5 hours but my knees hurt after and I just want to sit and chill and watch all the cool effects and theatrics the bands I like put on.

Funeral Report: my great aunt is super fucking dead. They even burned up her body to be sure. Ended out less of a pain than expected. Mostly cause we didnt go out to eat with my family when they chose a fucking truck stop for 8 people to go to. We just went back to the city and ate indian food.

So despite my great aunt not being particularly religious she basically went to church to make friends and she did some volunteer stuff and in the tiny town she lived in, a lot of that went through the church. So she has a church Funeral, which I havent dealt with since I was a kid. She was the only non atheist left in the family. So, I dont know what the fuck the rules are. Turns out theres a vip section for immediate family and they walk you in from a different room than everyone else goes through. That was weird as hell. We were expected to stand up and sing a hymn together on 3 occasions. It was pretty funny where the back row of her church friends were singing and the entire front was standing awkwardly waiting for it to be over. It was even better when the lyric PowerPoint for amazing grace fucked up and desynced after the second verse, so the part everyone knows and aside from 4 ladies at the back who had that locked in, it gradually fell into utter chaos. The pastor? I think that’s what they use in that church ended the whole thing with a threat, thst was a bit extreme and unwelcome. He badicslly said the good news is she’s in heaven, the bad news is we will never see her again unless we accept christ. Kinda came out of left field. After another hour of obligatory mingling my parents used my veganism as a clever excuse to get out of going out to trucker dinner and left. My less distant family joked they’d see me at Christmas, cause I dont go to family bullshit because I find them loud tedious and annoying. I replied ‘unless someone else dies first!’. I’ll give my family this, they all have a sense of humor and it got a good laugh. Got to see my cousin’s kids which was cool, it’s been a few years. They were always hyped as kids when I came around cause im fun and especially at the time dressed super super punk which little kids love. Now the oldest of the 3 is 15 (and I found out on the car ride home has an 18 year old boyfriend. Apparently neither her parents nor the rest of my family aside from me and my parents finds this creepy) and like a foot taller than me. The other two are i think 5-7 years younger respectively, theyre cool as well. Not as cool. All three absolutely CLING to my mom, they’ve all thought she was the coolest since they were babies. My cousin (their mom’) nee boyfriend looks like the unabomber but also disturbingly looks a lot like her brother but with a beard. I am so glad my parents raised me in the city. My uncle that had both moved from a small town to deeeeeep in the sticks a bit before they went to school. It shows.

Oddly I was probably one of the best dressed for the funeral. My dad and uncle both wore shorts and polo shirts. I had a black button up and black pants. A lot of the crowd was super super old people who were gonna wear what’s comfortable and doesnt require much to change into. I was just kinda surprised to have the most formal lookong outfit.

Anyway, 8/10. Funerals are silly

Oh and some lady who we were guessing on the ride home was a church friends snuck up behind me, put her hand on my shoulder and said she was soooo sorry for my loss. If she knew me even remotely she would know that was deeply weird, and if she was a distant relative that knew me as a small child then she would have said her relationships with me when I kinda rudely asked ‘yeah it’s a bummer, who are you?’ As a reply cause this random lady had just done a lot of things that made me uncomfortable so I forgot my manners a bit. She said her name was Evelyn, said it was a wonderful service tslked about the church for a while and sauntered off. My parents also have no clue who she is but I guess i wasnt the first victim. After one relative said it was nice to see me I said ‘we should do this again soon.’ I got a LOT of social mileage out of funeral jokes and tbh it was fun to work some dark material with an older crowd, I get through social functions by being really really funny, I can count on that, glad I could make it work for the event.

Also the floor in the reception area was fucking weird. It looked like wood but wss actually a carpet with the texture of a movie theatre aisle. It was giving people trouble. My parents said the whole rigamaroll kknda sucked but it was nice spending a day together and I csn agree there. My parents are pretty fun

The way landlords around here have been chopping up houses into tiny specks of units and then charging 900 dollars a month for them is fucking insane. The place I just visited was offering a 7 foot by 9 foot unit with no windows for 750.
