Tubby Boy Studios is a small company (just 2 people at this point) and this is their first game. It’s called Grimm Work and it’s an 8-player coop horror game where you roam procedurally generated levels and engage with monsters from mythologies and folklore around the world (stole a bit of this from their Steam page).
They’ve just released the game in early access and they’ve also released the source code and are looking to eventually build a modding community. I’ve played a few hours of this game so far and it’s been fun to get my bearings and learn how to play. Its kind of got an old PS2 game feel. It’s also been great to see the fruition of my friend’s work because he’s really poured his life into it. It was really ambitious for a first game imo (3D, procedurally generated, multiplayer, etc) and I think it turned out well.
If anyone is checking it out, it’s possible to play alone, but it’s meant to be played with friends, so if there’s interest maybe we could arrange a time for some of us to play? I know we used to do stuff like that but I don’t know what the current meta is. Apologies if that isn’t welcome given that I’m posting from one of my burners.
For those who are interested, it was developed on Linux, is playable on Linux, and no generative AI was used in its creation. I just asked him about licensing and will provide an update when he responds because the repo doesn’t have a LICENSE.md yet.
online multiplayer for a 2-person team’s first game is wild

Right? I told him at one point they basically flipped the hard switch with several of their design decisions.
That said, I don’t think it’s always been just the two of them. I don’t know specifics and it’s sounded like it’s been small the whole time regardless. I just don’t want to mislead or erase some of those people’s labor you know? I think at the very least they had more people under contract for 3D modeling and graphics. I can ask if people are interested to know.
This seems promising! I’ll check it out in a bit
Sweet! They were hinting in the Discord that they’re considering giving out some free keys if that’s something people need as well
Looks baller; I love the logo and art direction and vibes and everything!

By “it’s possible to play alone”, do you know to what degree it’s viable solo? (subjective question I know). I like co-op games but I have weird gaming hours and usually just play by myself lol
I’ve played through levels by myself. I think there are one or two monsters that have coop-specific mechanics but I don’t think they lock you out if you’re playing single player
Edit/update: apparently the next patch will make sure coop monsters don’t show up unless you have enough people
