Edit: interestingly the game seems to have a Japanese dub with the old voice cast (fun fact: Johnson and Marcus Fenix have the same VA in Japanese). We all know how well Xbox has done in Japan so if they’d phone in one region’s localisation you’d think it was Japan. Gears 5 apparently didn’t even have a Japanese dub. Even though Xbox hasn’t done too well over there the few Halo and Gears of War fans that exist over there really love the games and the dub casts

Also the checkpoints are broken and the hunter melee attacks kill you in one hit when they miss you by 1-2 meters

The plasma pistol shooting out a nerf dart when you decide to fire it at 99% charged instead of 100% charged is the worst for legendary, but the jackal hitboxes being broken because of the aim assist and the animation having them shoot pistols through their own hands/riot shields is what tells me that they didn’t even properly playtest the game lol,

they’re the second most common enemy in the game! and there’s hundreds of them! They even broke their stun attack - charged plasma pistol shots are only supposed to drain your shields but leave health untouched - so they accidentally filled the game with hundreds of riot-shielded Halo 2 jackal snipers that proc their one-shots at random

I just got to attack on the control room, the funniest thing that I noticed is that they removed the radio scenes of the US Marines getting owned lol (Fireteam Charlie getting cornered and killed at the end of Silent Cartographer, letting the Covenant trap you in the cartographer tunnels), the US military funders/editors for 343 must be feeling extra fragile lately

Halo didn’t really have prominent female soldiers (not counting Commander Miranda Keyes, but she was more of a ship’s captain and depicted as very young in the original version of Halo 2) until the 343 games. Female marines were around since Halo 2 but they were generic NPCs. Fun fact: the female marines in Halo 2 were all voiced by fairly big actors, like Michelle Rodriguez, a sign of how big Halo was at the time
