Officeworkers find it too hard to write bullshit reports and drag and drop presentations using default templates. AI was meant to make it easier for them to create the slop no one reads or refers to after the initial meeting.
But now using AI is TOO HARD because people don’t read what it says and can forget to hit the Enter key.
Sharing here because when I saw this it pissed me off so much. I can’t believe there are people out there like this.

Yep, recently got assigned some bullshit work that no one wants to do and I’m not experienced in. Spent some time going through docs, looking for the best methods, and then set up time with the SME for a quick Q&A before i got started. He told me that he’d just plug it into Claude and go from there. So I’ve released myself from stressing about it or thinking about it and I’m going to collect my salary for being the best copy/paste guy i can be

It’s true. One of the big AI shills at work got assigned to something I needed done. In my support ticket I said “Here is everything you need in the correct csv and with the right character encoding”.
They must have not read the ticket because the first thing they did was upload the exact same template and said “put everything you need in this template”.
It was like, bro, I’ve already done all of that for you. I said so

Doing anything is hurting their aspirations of being in management and hiding behind delegating. Its always people who come from privileged backgrounds who legit refuse to do any work at all and love ai because they can delegate to it and pretend to be a little manager before they inevitably get promoted into being a real manager.
This is basically my entire team though we have like 2 people who actually do work while everyone else watches and generates ai powerpoints to waste my time then ask why im not delivering faster.
This reminds me of that bit character in Silicon Valley who was trying to sell his app which was literally just a thing that writes down what section of a parking lot you left your car in and was confused as to why he couldn’t find an investor

using AI to develop copy for humans to read is so counter intuitive to me. it’s like the kind of thing people who don’t read would do, because they’ve not yet come across AI slop text in the wild and realized how its the textual-cognitive equivalent of chewing styrofoam. sentences that don’t communicate anything except lead to the next and the next until you’ve read paragraphs of nothing.
with each interation of the scrapers, the snake eats itself and more of the meal is this undigestible styroslop as the real archives of actual conversation are occluded in walled gardens.
the only people who aren’t seeing this decay are the people who just don’t read shit online.

ugh, yes. crap like this is why, when people send me shit to proof/copy edit, i completely engage with it and give them notes instead of skimming it and calling it good. i want to there to be less slop in the world and i want to keep my own tools sharp.

There are many good reasons to hate AI, but having to see the “it’s not X - it’s Y” structure everywhere is a really good reason.

Tbf I worked a copywriting job and a large part of it was just squeezing words around the advertising images and calls to action, none of us actually expected the audience to sit down and engage with the copy (though there’s copywriting and copywriting
My coworker used AI to write a letter to his landlord to try and avoid eviction. Another coworker of mine helped proof read it at least. This man has children and has rotted his brain with AI so much he’s relying on it to hopefully prevent an eviction. One of these days he’s going to be forced to pay for it because he’s offloaded all his cognitive ability to a machine.
Honestly not a L for LLMs in that case, some people are genuinely incapable of speaking in a way that’s appealing to petite bourgeois administrative enforcement, and chatbots at least gives them a shot at it. Obv not a W either because if we didn’t live in a bourgeois society that wouldn’t be a problem in the first place

You SSH into the computer with a tmux session running claude code. If you’re feeling spicy you can run multiple windows at once in a little dashboard, have the card light up a different color when it’s done/hanging, and/or have it ping you when it’s done.
You could also have prompted it “I’m going to go AFK, so don’t ask me anything. Use your best judgement and don’t stop until it’s complete.”
You could have also made sure it had a skill to invoke for AFK running, tell it to invoke that skill, and saved yourself the trouble of having to type it out each time.
But also I’m sorry for possessing profane knowledge.

The best part is that it can barely do excel and when it does do it, it is extremely difficult to edit because it does stuff in the most inefficient way possible, so you have to spend more tokens.
