That is 100% the “library” of someone who never reads but likes to look like he does.
My library is just a thousand uncracked copies of Infinite Jest

Fully one bookshelf is just brand spanking new Folio Society books which are expensive faux- leather books. The rest look like either brand new pickups or used store pickups. No fucking way this is his own house lol.
This person read OOP harder than OOP has read a single book lmao
Because it’s full of famous, well-regarded titles but there’s no sign of any specific underlying preference/interest?
That plus how many are sets of the same publisher “classics” series. Like they bought them all at once for the matchy aesthetic, not the content.
That’s definitely possible, but there are some people who both read and are collector-brained about the styling or have some relationship with a publisher that makes getting those books cheaper. Some publishers also just print more consistently good translations or paratext or whatever.
I think your guess is the most likely though.
I mean it looks like most of the books are shelved by publisher, not author or theme or whatever. With the notable exception of his collection of Bill Reilly books - presumably the only ones he’s actually read.
His whiskey selection is also lacking. It’s a bunch of well whiskey with a single bottle of Jameson and Johnny Walker to fill up the shelf. It’s like it was stocked by high school kids who stole from their parent’s liquor cabinet or shoplifted.
Wannabe vampire guys.
They’re always trying that Anne Rice shit, too. They never act like The Count
For some reason they never aspire to good old style

Seriously, the Nos is timeless
Am I wrong for fucking with this aesthetic??? Sure this guy probably sucks but the vibes are decent even it probably isn’t a comfortable place to actually read in. Needs something to lounge on.
Edit: just saw he has Bloodlands on his shelf lmao
Yeah I do like the aesthetic but in this case it just feels forced and inauthentic, it hits every cliche
I also try to make my space look and feel like a resident evil save room, so I’m sympathetic. But I do it authentically, with curios that I’ve found or made over time, plants and largely my own art. Not that everyone has to go to those lengths, but by contrast this room looks like everything in it was purchased at the same time. It’s overbearing and unsure of itself, trying to immediately manifest the gravitas of an old stately manor like…well, like a 24 year old guy trying to appear refined.
I love the aesthetic. What I don’t love is that it’s apparently all aesthetic, put together by someone with an incredibly superficial understanding of what they’re even trying to create.
I noticed the bookshelves right away. If you’re making a dope library, I would hope it’s because you love to read. The person who chose the books on this bookshelf wants to look like they love to read, but it’s pretty clear those books were chosen because they look good together on a bookshelf, not because they’re books this person necessarily wants to read. Just look at the pristine spines on all but one of the Penguins!
I inherently don’t believe anyone who collects penguins actually reads them. Awful ass books with the thinnest paper known to man. I only buy them if I absolutely have to.
Yeah, exactly! I only have 2 Penguins (thought I had a couple more, actually, but apparently not!) and they are truly the last resort for when the book you want isn’t available elsewhere.
On this bookshelf, though, the Penguins are there to say “look, I own a bunch of classic literature, I’m definitely well-read and intellectual!”
Needs better lighting and a fainting couch, then I’d be fine with it too tbh
I didn’t know what a fainting couch was before your comment but I need you to know it us precisely what I was imagining
I’m in your head
eat more beans
must eat more beeeeeanis

I can respect the aesthetic but that green paint in this one is rough imo. It’s like the coat is too thick and that bookshelf woulda just look better as grain (unless it’s some kind of particle board but there’s still something better you could do with it I’m sure).
But yeah, valid concept.
This goon cave looks more like a goon’s grave
This kinda look like average lawyer office in Poland, though Polish lawyers usually have better lights, better bookshelves, no bed, more alcohol (just never visible) and way more monarchist trash.
One_Can828 is the doofus. I don’t know why he feels the need to justify himself/get validated there, but here we are.

it gives me the vibes of someone who probably broadcasts himself as a military analyst and political commentator for his own satellite channel (using his parents’ money) or for places like iran international.

I call this aesthetic the monsterpiece theater
