A very large number of Americans think the Constitution is synonymous with the Bill of Rights (due to a decades-long propaganda campaign). You tell them the constitution is dog shit and they think you want to rip away their (imaginary) free speech, due process, and protection against unlawful searches when you’re really saying the Senate is a redundant, explicitly anti-democratic institution, the electoral college is a fucking joke, and allocating an entire branch of government to 9 lifetime-appointed Federalist Society grand-wizards is idiotic.

Well-meaning liberals understand we need constitutional reforms. Something needs to be done about the unlimited anonymous corporate campaign funding, gerrymandering, wealth inequality, felony disenfranchisement, and a long list of other issues. The Supreme Court has ruled incorrectly on a number of critical issues and this needs to be set straight by a series of constitutional amendments. And yet, the constitutional amendment process is completely captured by these same anti-democratic rulings. They need to connect the dots.

It won’t stop them trying, but this admin has had a terrible success rate in court despite being able to appoint judges. They’ll probably pull out this old defunct law, charge someone with it, and then the charges will get dropped when a judge says “Yeah this was ruled unconstitutional decades ago, dismissed”

I’d call you a Trot, because of what I hear from my local ones about their “plans” for revolution, but sectarianism never accomplishes anything, and your screen name suggests yet another tendency, so.

Just one, but they somehow split the lightbulb and establish three competing zines about it.

Mike Myers is at least an standard Canadian lib:

Talking about his parody of Musk, Myers made it clear that he disagrees with the tech billionaire’s growing influence in politics.

“The involvement of billionaires in democratic government goes against how I feel as a Canadian," he said, adding that he believes in “good government.”

“Good governance” is a loaded political term in Canada and is used in political and legal contexts a lot, so it’s not quite as air-headed as it sounds.

Yeah, it’s often used in the same way as “Responsible Government” and both terms sound like common sense nothingburgers if you aren’t from here. Honestly, I don’t fully understand them myself and I assume anyone using such terms in public is a lib or centrist.
