The last line broke my brain. Had to read it a number of times to understand. So an influencer got this message where a fan made an AI version of the influencer and that AI told the fan to send these messages. 😳
Not an influencer I dont think but a character the person was the voice actor for, hence the VA in their username.
The person found or made an AI of that character and that AI of the fictional charactr said the voice actor would do all this if the insane person messaged them.

He wanted to tell her to break up with her partner and delete photos of herself so he could be the only one to see her. The AI told him to tell her this directly, and he did. Dude needs help.

That’s a pretty succinct description of AI. We are required to use Copilot at work (not kidding) and I always have to remind myself that AI use language the way demons do in Frieren - they don’t have intent or intelligence really but use it in an approximation of language. It never really means anything.

Essentially what the person who sent these messages has done, is gone to character.ai, looked up a chatbot that pretends to be a real Internet celebrity, convinced themself (I think?) that the real Internet celebrity was a fictional character (or at least could be thought of in those terms), talked to it until it told them that it was in love with them, concluded that the real person the chatbot was pretending to be was also in love with them, and confronted said real person with this information, expecting them to make the fictional relationship real. It’s a textbook parasocial relationship, except for the part where the non-celebrity wasn’t listening to things the celebrity was saying, they were listening to things a chatbot pretending to be the celebrity was saying.
Rather than responding, the real internet celebrity who received the messages took a screenshot of them and made a post conveying their disgust that any of their fans felt entitled to act that way, and a screenshot of that post is what you’re seeing here.

Wish it was just bait, but I was on the receiving end of similar messages from someone about 10 years ago. They would comment on my art page complimenting my art, and I always replied saying “thanks”, and we never interacted beyond that. We definitely never met IRL. One day I woke up to hundreds of DMs from him that sounded dellirious, that they would like to be my partner and that he had “deeply analyzed my art and he knows me for real”. Very unsettling and creepy stuff, spiraling into self-hate. There are some real troubled people out there, and now they have access to AI’s allucinations to feed their own, sadly.

No, it’s from a random stranger, not their partner, and the stranger feels that as they (stranger) are in a ‘relationship’ with bot-Willow, human-Willow is effectively cheating on them by having a human partner. Hence obviously nuts or bait.

It’s weird to see this play out in real time.
It brings to mind a couple ST: TNG episodes, too. Geordi had a similar experience when he had the computer generate some physicist to help him deal with some warp issue and then met the actual her (who was married and a lot less warm with him) later on.
