I had some zero THC cbd and cbg mix like 5 years ago. No side effects and it really helped me stay away from booze and other dumb shit. I was productive without the side effects of smoking regular bud (laziness and munchies really fuck with me and THC gives me more anxiety)

Should I be going for CBD or CBG or try and do both again? Anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

My last psych said weed is proven to make depression worse in the long term and isn’t proven to treat depression.

CBD oil never did much for me, but I never had negative effects either. I don’t know anything about CBG.

One non hallucinogenic dose of psilocybin got rid of my depression for a week at least, but I don’t have a source for more.

I have depression and grow weed and although I haven’t messed with isolates so much, psilocybe cubensis is where it’s at for depression and easier to grow. I don’t think it can give you anything mindfulness meditation can’t, although one enhances the other.

Just like with other classes of drugs, this is highly dependent on the brain/body in question

I don’t have much experience, but if cbd and cbg worked for you I’d stick with that. Remember to take T breaks though, you’ll still build a tolerance.

I didn’t notice much when I use cbg isolate. They say it’s energizing. I don’t think it would hurt to combine the two… But CBD is good. I liked isolate the best… But flower or isolate dabs could work for you to get off smoking.

I haven’t smoked in months, I’m just trying to deal with the anxiety. I will try CBD by itself though, thanks for the tip!

If you’re going for CBD and CBG then you’re going to get the best bang for your buck with vaporising or edibles. Smoking it will run it pretty hot and all the good stuff will quickly degrade at combustion temps.

    Pros and cons:

    Vaporising - pros

    • Rapid onset

    • Easy to dose

    • Clean and easy

    Vaporising - cons

    • Equipment has a fairly large upfront cost

    • Cheaper units often don’t have decent/any temperature controls so you have to practice a bit

    • Generally not portable (except for some units like the MFLB)

    Edibles - pros

    • Only requires basic cookware to achieve

    • Very compact, stealthy if needed

    Edibles - cons

    • Each batch will require a test run or two to get the dosage figured out

    • Trickier to dose

    • Slower onset

    • Makes a bit of mess, requires some time cooking and takes a bit of effort

    • Often can be bought in stores depending on your location

If you’re going the vape route, there are better guides on the best ones for your purpose online than I’d be able to write you.

If you want a DIY homemade vaporiser on a strict budget, get yourself a labware conical flask that is approximately 250ml, a rubber stopper, a metal straw and (optional) a hole cutting tool for a rubber stopper. Open flames are pretty much a necessity for this so if you don’t have a gas stove then you’re out of luck unless you want to make a little suspended basket out of pipe filter mesh and some food grade wire to attach to the stopper. Obviously one hole in the stopper is for the metal straw and the other is the shot hole. Just note that this will look like a pretty suspicious piece of paraphernalia so I wouldn’t leave it lying around or it might make someone panic by thinking that it’s designed for using with other drugs.

If you want to make edibles, I’d get my herb, mill it finely, put it into a ziplock bag with a good quantity of a fat (butter, coconut oil - use deodorised stuff if you plan to use it in cooking - etc.), then bag it again just for the sake of safety. Put the ziplock bags into an old pillowcase or fashion a bag out of a tea towel to cover the ziplock bags to protect them from making direct contact with the metal of the pot and melting. Simmer for idk about an hour (there’s more info on decarboxylation online if you want to get more accurate info). Strain the herb from the fat and pour into the ziplock bags in a thin layer, pressing out the excess air. Put strained herb into something edible like peanut butter or a mix of finely shredded coconut and icing sugar and stir to combine - eat it whenever you are up for it, this is to avoid any unnecessary waste. Allow fat to cool and harden on a flat surface. Place into the fridge for shorter term storage or into the freezer for long-term storage. Remember to measure out a small piece of fat on gram scales or using something like a quarter or half teaspoon measure - spread it on a piece of bread or just throw it down the hatch directly. Test how high you get on a scale of 1-10 to give you a rough idea of how much a half dose, a full dose, and a double dose are. Write this info on the ziplock bag. Dilute with extra fat if it’s too strong and difficult to dose accurately. If you have frozen a thin, flat layer of fat then it should be fairly easy to just snap off a portion straight out of the freezer to use directly or to defrost in the fridge to cover your needs for a few days/weeks depending on your consumption rate and the strength.
