Grimes said that the conversation eventually revealed that Musk believes, somewhat erroneously, that “every way that you transition can cause fertility issues” — an unsurprising sticking point for the billionaire, who has fathered at least 10 children and is reportedly obsessed with fertility.

I hate it when they justify their transphobia by pretending to care. And fertility? What an utterly bizarre reason. Bordering on “Every sperm is precious” levels of nuttery.

Good fucking lord he can’t even be transphobic without thinking about getting someone pregnant. Why has millions of years of human labor culminated in forcing me to constantly hear about this creeps breeding fetish??? screm3why-angelscrem-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Wonder how he’d feel about people like me, who were infertile BEFORE transitioning.

My opinion? He’s engaging in the time honored capitalist tradition of lying all the time abut anything and everything.

He’s a weirdo sure, but is he soooo different and special that he’s just transphobic because of his eccentric obsessions? No shot. He’s just got the same anxieties about gender as every other transphobe. Not even exceptional in his bigotry

the weirdo angle here is that he thought this made him sound better. But I guess it did, to Grimes

I really think enough right wing weirdos who follow him told him not to like trans people and he’s just desperate for their approval and has now internalized the position. If you ask him I’m sure he’d say he’s always felt this way, but if we could time travel to the exact moment I’m sure it begins with a tweet somewhere.

I doubt there was ever a time when he wasn’t transphobic though. The fact is, almost everyone on the planet over the age of 30 was transphobic by default and had to learn not to be (and most still haven’t).

Like I was born in the 90s and didn’t really know about the existence of trans people until my teens and there were almost no out trans people until I was in my 20s. If you were weren’t transphobic you were an absolute outlier and 99% of the population would think you’re insane for not being a bigot. And I live in a liberal state.

It’s frankly shocking in hindsight how many movies in the 90s and early 00s used “attractive woman used to be a man” as a joke. Like no other punchline, just “haha she used to be a man” or the even more disgusting variant of “male main character shocked and disgusted by knowledge they slept with post op trans woman”. Like you’re right, pop culture barely acknowledged trans people as even existing normally until… Fuck, barely 10 years ago?

I attended a Christian university in the early 00s. Obviously not a representative sample size but guys around me used the f-word slur like it was going out of style. And while a bunch of white Christian college guys are gonna use that word a lot more, it’s use was still fairly common among other people I knew.
