Read the comments for even more mental damage.
I love how people assume the comment calling them cringe is saying disliking Trump is cringe. Like they cannot conceive that their attitude and juvenile outlook is what people find silly. “we really are the rebels” fucking killed me
Absolute overreaction to libs being libs. Be happy their media improved. They went from a hero that ends by becoming a cop to a hero that starts by killing private cops.
Andor not existing would just mean more Potter brain.
E: Just noticed this was badposting. Carry on.
I hate that they have transposed potter brain onto actually good/more “revolutionary” stuff. It seems more like it dilutes and makes these libs feel even more like they are the ultimate good and have no reason to self-crit
They are always going to feel that way. Their media has jothing to do with it.
i wonder if the “quotes from fiction as politics” trend is evolving from the old “soundbytes as politics” thing because individual politicians have become significantly less likeable
Just point to the interview where Stalin is cited as an inspiration for Mr. Andor:
The previous set piece was the heist. And one thing that this show does that’s never been even discussed before in the Star Wars saga is focus on funding the Rebellion. It drives multiple plot points of the show. It’s such an obvious driver of the story, except no one’s ever done it before, so it can’t be that obvious. How did you get there?
This goes directly back to what I said before. Literally, I’m the classic old white guy who just can’t get enough history. The last 15 years, I’ve been reading all non-fiction. There’s an amazing book called Young Stalin [by Simon Sebag Montefiore]. The opening chapter is this incredible [potential] movie sequence where Stalin is part of staging a major bank robbery in a Georgian town in 1907. It involves 15 people and hookers and teamsters and all these things. Stalin was Lenin’s financier. He was a thief. And the reason Lenin loved him so much was he kept bringing the money. They needed money. This shit all costs money. People gotta eat, they gotta get guns. You gotta get stuff.
It’s knowing that and wanting to say something about that. Almost no one ever pays attention to that part of it. It’s an underutilized area of storytelling. I’m always obsessed with what my characters make and where they’re getting their money. If you look at a picture of Young Stalin, isn’t he glamorous? He looks like Diego! We’re not doing [the] Stalin show. But, it’s fascinating. All through every revolution, it’s the same thing. It takes coin. Look at Exodus, where they’re trying to get money for Palestine.
here’s the bit if you’re feeling lazy
The lesson being that Robin hood would’ve been slandered as a tyrant if he ever gained power
💯, everyone loves a bank robber, everyone hates the leader constructing a new society
Is that young stalin book any good?
No, iirc montefiore sucks. He also wrote “Stalin: Court of the Red Tzar”
That title alone deserves
. Imagine being more anti-communist in your view of Stalin than declassified internal CIA memos.
We’re not doing [the] Stalin show.

I love andor but I swear I am regretting its existence
In fact, most of my favorite subs (technology, andor, politics, futurology) are touching on themes of Andor now.
They couldn’t possibly hit upon those themes organically, it’s because of muh treat.
Edit: one of the posts in the sidebar was ”PSA: Andor might be morally grey but that doesn’t mean the Empire isn’t evil”

As much as I hate hearing the emphasis on treats, this is fantastic news. Rather than endless Marvel movies, Andor is legitimately telling a revolutionary tale that draws on real history, and the fact that it is resonating with liberals is a huge sign, just like widespread support for Luigi, that the actual class character of society is becoming more and more understood. The jump from an Andor-fan to theory is much shorter than a Marvel fan or Harry Potter fan.
I dunno, maybe that’s too bloomer of a take but I choose to look at the positives here.
Maybe. I’m just more annoyed that they’re not realizing that people are getting pissed off because things are getting increasingly worse, not because of a Star Wars treat. It makes me slightly less optimistic that apparently even the Andor sub still has Empire apologists.
I would point out, both Lenin and Stalin drew inspiration from fiction in their time, along with real world events. Stalin by The Patricide and Lenin by What is to be Done.
Not saying Andor is going to inspire the same fervor, just that fiction can be inspirational to people.
What is to be Done
I didn’t even know there was a novel with that title, I only knew the Lenin text.
I see it as an indicator of a trend, if the feelings weren’t there then Andor would not have seen as much success IMO. Regardless of misattribution, the indication reveals more about the general feelings of USians and other Andor viewers.

I enjoyed the show too, but Nemik’s manifesto is honestly one of the more disappointing parts of it. Nemik’s character himself reads like parody of New Left college kids, and his vague, flowery ideas about how to resist tyranny and oppression confirmed that for me. I interpreted Cassian as being disappointed after reading it, like “really? This is all you got for me?”

I guess, but my biggest gripe was how it was written in a way that even MAGA and NAFO types can self-insert
It didn’t read like a manifesto. His thing about analog tech was closer to something you’d find in a political work than anything in the actual manifesto.
I 100% guarantee that the twist of Andor Season 2 is going to be that the rebellion itself is a sith machination, and that you, the viewer, are an idiot for ever having supported it
