I think it’s more to do with the Medicare fraud they did. Falsification of diagnoses in order to trigger extra payments to its Medicare Advantage plans.
Holy shit they’re finally getting called on this? MA billing fraud has been like an open secret for like a decade, I’m actually shocked this is finally getting investigated. The FTC has probably gotten thousands of tip line calls on this for every single insurance company that offers MA plans.

I think it’s because UnitedHealth took it to the extreme: there’s rumours that they were falsifying HIV/AIDS diagnosis.

It’s just a rumour, so it could definitely be false. But nothing surprises me these days…
