The octopus has become a contemporary Hanukkah mascot because they have 8 legs (for the 8 night holiday). I often get little octopus trinkets for Hanukkah presents.

I’m Jewish and that card creeps me. I like octopuses. Japanese illustrations with them are cute. But western cartoon octopuses with a focus on their legs reminds me of cartoons showing how evil/corrupt entries manipulate things for their own benefit.
I like really the Standard Oil octopus cartoon. I never remember cartoons yet I have had a fondness for it ever since I saw it more than 20 years ago.
But octopuses can represent Jews too.
